Greetings and Salutations Knife Enthusiasts,
An individual who is interested in a knife I have, has asked about my willingness to ship to an APO. Having never done so before I did a bit of interweb snooping, and searched BF and it appears it could be as simple as sending it Priority Mail. However, many of my "best" misadventures have been prefaced by the phrase "as simple as," so I figure there's a good chance I'm missing something here. And advice/insight would be appreciated. FWIW the zip code he gave me shows up as Kapaun Air Station.
all da best,

Last I shipped to an A.P.O. was to a MSg in Iraq. Almost 2k worth of knives and supplies got there without a hitch.

Just like any other shipment. Pack them well and insure them.

You'll have to do an extra piece of paper (customs form) to do it and it takes a bit longer for delivery. However, it's not a real issue.

I've spent 5 years at an APO address and while slow, they have never lost anything of mine.

Ohen,
How specific will the customs form be ("camping tool" vs. "Manufacturer, model name of knife"), and how will that impact what I pay for shipping, and/or what recipient pays?
Thanks,
rats...

Rats...I've done this a few times....No probs,but,I would advise this :

Ask your buyer how he/she wishes to have that customs form filled out (you will have to fill one out)
Inform them, that you will ship ptriority insured, and will fill out the form as instructed by them, but, that you will not be heald responsible for the package

Every knife I ever shipped to an APO got there & I think I described these as "knives" & still was no problem I think costs are the same/relative & the item description is not too specific,ie,Camp Tool,Hand Tool,Knife, etc I think they want the people protecting us happy
