Shiv. Shiv. Shiv.

Have any satin shiv’s arrived at their loving homes yet? Sorry if this has already been discussed, my BF google fu is sub par. Thanks!

These were the 2 options:

Satin grind after tumble (super clean 220 grit hand ground finish) $225
Lengthwise satin ground by NTM $500 (not a good value, don't order this)

The former option which is Mark's specialty, no one including Mark has posted any photos of so probably still a couple/few months away. The latter which will be done by Nathan, probably 6 month or so away. I asked a similar question in ANAQ thread and it looks like ~ by the end of this Summer.

Can someone explain what this is for the unwashed heathens?
Knives that Mark has done the satin grind show the grinding perpendicular to the edge. Knives that Nathan satin grinds show the grinding parallel to the edge. Nathan priced it that way because he hates doing it and doesn't want you to order it.

I'd imagine it would look something like the finish on the left hand UF blade in the picture below. At $500 a pop, I'd probably take the advice not to order it, unless I was made of money, or had an irresistible desire to explain to all my friends why a hand-rub from Nathan is worth $500 - “It’s all in the longitudinal strokes - the man’s a machinist, he really knows how to finish a tool!”

I'll remember that option if I win PowerBall.
