Shiv. Shiv. Shiv.

Brown Santa visited today. The 2.0 is sweet! I’ll get some better shots when I get more time. But here’s a couple of quick comparison shots of dagger vs regular grind:

Those shiv's are just too Sweet!...

Thx all for sharing the stoke. 👊. I am digging the Osage Retired UPS Driver Retired UPS Driver and Comprehensivist Comprehensivist . One of my fav woods.

Some weights for you toker toker . All really close, even the OG… talking 1/10’s of an oz here. I was surprised the wood was lighter than micarta.

In oz’s:
TT standard: 11.92
Micarta dagger: 11.75
Osage standard: 11.64
OG 3V: 11.39

New vs old:

Just got to check out my Shivs from the preorder. 1 regular with AECM, and 1 double-edged with DIW.

Wow...
Yeah, the contouring on these handle scales is incredible (and both options look fantastic. I'll take some pics when I have better light).

Abdominal ventilation tool indeed.
*** it's also pretty incredible to feel how light and lively they are in hand, considering Nate specifically designed them to be capable of things like hammering a loophole through a cinderblock wall.

I never looked for the OG Shiv as it was the one CPK with a use case I didn't see myself needing/using. After realizing how many CPKs I already have, I figured well, it might be just a collector's item to me, but it IS the iconic CPK in their logo, so I jumped on the preorder. Don't regret getting these one bit.

Awesome as always, CPK!

*** the other thing that's greatly appreciated, is that CPK's knives come with great sheaths. Positive retention, secure, and an important detail for the potential intended use of the design; there is ZERO rattle/movement when the knife is in the sheath.

^ Excellent explanation about where many of us may find ourselves in this CPK collecting “ knife dream”. Look forward to the pics and I’m that much more excited to receive mine. 👍🏼

I originally did not see a use case for a Shiv for myself either. I generally do not gravitate towards knives that are designed to be weapons - 1.) there is case law in my state that prohibits me from carrying as such (yet I am allowed to carry a gun 🤷‍♂️) and 2.) Because I can carry a gun for self defense purposes, I generally see little need to carry a knife for that purpose.

That said, the Shiv was supposed to be my "for fun" CPK purchase. It has quickly become one of my favorite knives. I love the design, I love the engineering, the details, the feel of it - it's just a bloody brilliant piece and if I could only have one CPK (or even just one knife in general) it would be a top contender.

The Shiv pleases me.

Just finished up with the fireworks that we bought ” for the kids ‘.
Started thinking about what the day is really about now that the hustle and bustle is over. What was risked, what was gained, what so many gave for it.
Then my mind wandered to the movie, The Patriot. I thought about the scene where M.G. is fighting with his knife and hawk and realized that I had a nice modern version of that set up.
Although I think that the Shrike would be a better fit for that combo I sold my Shrike off years ago.
The Jenny Wren and Shiv still make a very nice pairing.
Maybe we should have a Carothers and Hawk thread?

I really want to get a RMJ Ragnarok, but I couldn't justify buying one. The only use case that ever made sense was to keep in in my car in case I had to smash a window out of a burning car to free someone.

That scenario pops up once in a while when my mouse is hovering over Add to Cart.

I’ve owned several Jenny Wrens, a couple Shrikes, and a couple Little Birds. All were cool and I used to find an excuse to use them but they were all replaced by my Medium Chopper. I occasionally take this JW rabbit hunting, it is a very efficient head remover. Everyone at the petting zoo really seems shocked at how well it works😁
Seriously though. For me, I’ve found a large blade less likely to accidentally mess me up than a hawk, your mileage may vary.
The Ragnarok is sexy though! Did you upgrade to overnight shipping?
