Since we've all been so focused on the current production of Utility Fighters rolling out, more questions have begun to come up about the SHIV.

Here, below, is a thread on the SHIV, the other Carothers fighter, officially a closed pattern, with several pages of posts, AND comments on the pattern from Nathan, for those of you who might not be as familiar with it:

    https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/shiv-uses.1495817/

Feel free to post images of your own SHIV here, as well.

Bob, thank you for reposting this for the newer CPK'ers and a refresher for the longer tern dwellers. Like Plato had stated, "learning is remembering"

Of all of the CPK patterns that I have ever had any interest in, this is the one that has always eluded me.

all the patterns I've developed for and with CPK are deeply rooted in the Shiv pattern. Ole Granpappy

So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

I bought mine back in July of 2015, and if I had to chase down a pig with a knife, it's still the knife I would choose.

^I have the darker, dirtier sister to that one. If either of us ever choose to part with them, we should talk so they can be together again.

I remember that one, it was Bob's old one with a sharpened swedge IIRC.

P.S. I sold off 4-5 various duplicate CPKs back in early Summer an action which I now regret. From here on out, I am announcing myself in the buyers column!

Cerakoted, 4th from the bottom up:

I'm only borrowing this photo from one of Bob's most recent post because he had alluded already to the fact that some of the new owners
will probably recognize their current Shivs from this photo!

I think that I actually ended up with that one at some point which was actually earmarked for Grog but he just dragged his feet so it ended up going to elsewhere which I also now regret.

Since then, I scored another A2 for Grog which I had posted photos of last week, the one with the acid washed blade and also the meat eating grind!

That "meat eating grind " on one of Nathan's Shiv's would be wicked an any world!;)

I had no idea that Nathan used to put grinds like that on his edges and I had thought that someone had messed with it, despite the fact that Ivan was convinced that was done by The Man himself. Speaking of Ivan, man have we lost some of our original subforum veterans to the ins and outs of their everyday (busy) lives!

I think that by stating the above, I have insinuated that some of us present have no lives :D

I had so many fighters that I decided to pass some down to others either through sale or trade, but the image of all those is still representative. I love 'em all, but the Shiv is probably the one we won't see any more of from Nathan, at least that's my guess.

And yes, I miss having more than one of the cerakotes.

Mat, I'm glad you posted that image. I thought about posting it in this thread, but had already posted recently somewhere else, don't remember, given my propensity for senior moments.
