Shiva Ki Opportunity

it's interesting that Mr Ki was band but still has his say here and still selling:o

and it doesn't seem his say has change much either, to bad..

a recluse I'd be too..

Ki send me a letter some time ago , two actually, the first I didn't even bother to reply to, but when he sent me the 2nd one I did write back with no return from him.. for some strange reason he though these were my forums??
yes a lack of knowing edicate < spelling on line is evident..and a lack of the rules we all have to go by, I'll bet his master didn't teach him that trait

I don't know the guy, but I do know I studied the arts at one time also and I would never disrespect the art by using the arts to intimidate anyone, that is just wrong ,
self-defense is a different story, I was taught by a master that was taught by a
shugfar kugfu master over seas,
being a master in the art and then threatening someone is no different than , brandishing a gun at someone..

I feel sorry that someone else has to deliver his message still..

Gus I don't hind either and never have..
I don't mind the hyping because rather true or not a sane person can take anything with a grain of salt, but flat out selling and threatening in the wrong places is a no no..be it here or in civilization, period .
some guys seem to have severely different two sides to them, just as nice as can be until something goes wrong a little bit and then wham look out.. there is no turning back ..
even a pit-bull makes a great friend until that one time comes around.... and no I'm not calling anyone a pit-bull it's just an analogue..
just my 2 cents

bhauer
I hope you a good time there, walk softly though..

Only from his shrills, but as they say suckers are born every minute.

I have hung around some martial arts and blade smithing masters in my time.
Funny thing is that I have never heard any of them put down others of their disciplines or make threats.

I will leave it to others to decide what kind of Master Mr. Ki is. I already know and I would have no problem at all saying that or defending why he was banned to his face. It would not help the situation, since he obviously does not believe in taking responsibility for his own actions.

Sounds like a nutbag to me. Over the last four decades I have had the opportunity to train with some genuine badass masters. The funny thing is, you would never know it to hear them talk. Nothing bad to say about others, and if they thought someone was full of shit, they just didn't say much and ignored them. The truly scary guys aren't posting on internet forums about how tough they are. Who knows, maybe he makes a great knife and is a good teacher, but he's a headcase with all the martial arts master stuff.

Rick

I do not disagree that there is never a reason to insult or try to intimidate or threaten other makers. No one should tolerate that kind of activity. I understand why a lot of you are not happy with him. If you cant say something nice don't say anything at all. Just yesterday I told my wife, "Sweetheart,...you sure don't sweat much for a fat chick".

bhauer...why did you post that in this thread mate? Bear was here to celebrate his excitement of learning blademaking from someone with great skill and now the thread has turned to junk. Start a new thread if you wanna discuss the merits of this bloke or tap a reply onto an old one.

Bear, congrats mate! That is a fantastic opportunity. I have only seen pics of these blokes knives on the net. I would love to have the chance to do what you will be doing.

Irezumi, I was the one who hooked the two of them up. And I have congratulated him several times. I think it is a fantastic opportunity and I cant wait to hear about his week in Baton Rouge.

No doubt he's a good smith but I'd put on a tin foil hat as soon as he starts talking about anything besides smithing. I just checked out his site and looked through the 'Know your maker' section and I have to say that of all the crazy wacko nutjob's websites I've seen his is up there. He reminds me of a dude named Ashida Kim I ran into once. If you don't know who he is, google his name or search it on bullshido.com.

Like I said, I don't doubt he's a good knifemaker but the rest of the evidence I've seen tells me he's wacked.

I checked out both websites and Shiva Ki's is not nearly as bad as "Ashida Kim's" $10,000 challenge....LMAO. Although Master Ki or his webmaster should invest in a spell check program. Little mixing of cultures there. Shiva is Indian......Ki is not..........and correct me if I am wrong, but the isn't the symbol he is using the beret badge of the French Foreign Legion? Nice looking knives though and some seem quite reasonably priced considering what i have heard about their general quality and the fact that Shiva has been doing this for a good long while. They sure look a hell of a lot more like a usable knife than some other "tacticals" that have been discussed on this esteemed forum.........not gonna bring that guy's name up again.....lol:D Crazy or not, you have to give Shiva props for giving away his knives to the troops. But, as we have seen in the past, sometimes you just have to separate the "art" from the "artist"

Hey guys....All I can say from my e-mails with Shiva is that yes the man was hurt by what a lot of people said. I hope that everyone can put this behind themselves. One thing that I completely agree with is that it is gutless to put anyone down by posting messages. We come here because of our love of knives and the craft. I've been a member here for over 3 years and I have barely broken 60 posts, most have been the last few months because I am house bound. We come here to learn and nurture our passions. I am not condeming anyone until someone has wronged me or given me reason too.
Bo Hauer has been a great friend since I have met him and hope that I will have the pleasure of meeting him in person someday. He was responsible for introducing me to Shiva and I am very greatfull for that. There is a wealth of knowledge that can be learned from almost anyone regardless of personality or nationality as long as there is common ground. I want to be able to produce and help contribute to the making of the "ideal" high performance knife. I try not to kiss or kick anyone's ass and I give credit and appreciation where it belongs. I consider this a very rare and unique opportunity and my enthusiasm is off the scale. Take care and enjoy your weekend, Art.

Shiva is Indian......Ki is not..........
That's kinda what got me thinking about Ashida Kim. Ashida is Japanese, Kim is Korean. Bad craziness.

Art:
Power to ya, man. I really hope you learn some great skills form Mr. Ki. Good luck and keep us informed.

Much thanks to everyone and your kindness, and a special thanks to Bo for introducing me. :)

Thanks Bigbear. Wishing you a speedy recovery!! Glad to hear you are feeling better. Cant wait to see the knives you when you start making them.
