Shop Dog ATTACKED!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Indiana. I got home from work and had just enough time to take a little walk through town to visit a friend who had just had back surgery.

My two little girls 3 & 4 years old got on there bikes, training wheels and all, and off we went.....My wife, the two rug rats, me and my shop dog Browny.

Brown dog as we call her is a German short hair pointer and is very docile.

She follows her nose so I like to put a chocker chain on her because she pulls less with it rather than her leather collar.

All is well as we walk and talk to our neighbors ... we come to a corner in town where a couple of families are out in their yard with their kids in a wagon.

We turn the corner and I hear it!!!! The sound of vicious barking... Then from a trailer to my left (over half a block away!) I see a Pit Bull bust through the door.

It charged from thier street thru thier neighbors yard and attacked brown.

In seconds it had Browny by the throat ripping her apart! I had no weapon only a small pocket knife which I new was useless in this situation. (next time I'll have my pistol)

Thank goodness the family down the street responded and beat the dog off with a hoe.

The police did respond quickly but because the Pit Bull only attacked my dog and not me or my family the owners were only ticketed for not having their dog on a leash!

Brown is home from the vet and is healing from a 7" gash under her neck that took over twenty stitches (the vet lost count) to sew up. She also has several puncture wounds.

The Dr. said that the two collars saved her life!

The girls seem to be fine...I lost more sleep than they did ..lol.. The owners are paying the vet bill...or at least the owners mother-in-law did! HA!

I KNOW....I KNOW....if you were me you'd go back and shoot the dog....right? Here's the catch ....

Come to find out, the dog has done this before! To four other dogs!

Because the owner is a known drug dealer everyone...including me!...is afraid of the retaliation this guy would bring.

Pray for me and my family,I'm talking to the prosecutor tomorrow.

Yeh, you need more than just the bills payed for.

Some tainted meat may be right for this situation.

Good luck,

I like the tainted meat idea. Maybe a tainted pizza for the owner as well. I think of my dog as family so I would go into a rage under similar circumstances. I blame the owner as much or more than the dog.

the same type of thing happened to us about a year ago, except it killed our 2 pomeranians, and in our case the owners never came forward, leaving us the 1K bill. we captured the dog and gave it to animal control, which put it down 2 weeks later. now i carry a large walking stick, a bigger knife, and now i wont hold back. i hope your dog recovers completely and those dirt bags get their come upins.

I have made it a habit from childhood. When my dad would take our dogs on walks he always carried a walking stick that equated to a bat. I picked up on that and ANYTIME i go out with my dog i have my pistol on me locked and loaded JUST for that reason.I have been a country boy and love dogs but if i have one coming at me like that then that is one dead dog. I have been around alot of pit bulls and they get a bad rap. Prolly another case of trash that shouldnt be able to raise kids or dogs.

How about a nice light wakizashi to deal with the problem...I'm in the process of makin me one for just such ocaisions, couple of blade strokes and problem solved!

It's the Owner!

Make him pay. Nicely.
Go out of your way to not make yourself and family targets.

You say that you're wife and kids were nearby?

Definitely think about spilling some radiator fluid in a nice puddle near that house.

Worried about retaliation? That's a tough one. You don't know what will happen if this drug-dealer finds his dog dead one day. But you also don't know what will happen if your kids are out without you.

Most drug-dealers are cowardly, relying on bullying tactics and fear of the unknown to get their way. I would lay a trap of poisoned meat or radiator fluid, and fear of retaliation be damned. "All that is required for evil to triumph is for a good man to do nothing."

I'm glad that the kids weren't hurt. Sorry 'bout the pooch. A friend of mine had his niece taken to the hospital when some scumbag's (another drug dealer) pitbull got through the fence at a children's birthday party and attacked her. That sort of thing is more than avoidable. Too bad the guy is a scum and likely doesn't have any liability insurance.

FOR SURE. I HATE drug dealers cause if I was single my neighborhood would be different but I too have a wife and kid that could become targets every time they go out or I leave for work.

That sucks! I tend to carry a gun when I take the family out for a stroll due to some of the neighborhood dogs. Never needed it though...

Prison yard rules, find the baddest dude in the yard and Whip his butt! a CCW is cheap and easily attainable in our great state. barring those arent your cup of tea... plant some ammonia, and a bunch of psudoephedrine in or around his trailor, call your marshall and tell him you smell a meth lab. and to add insult to injury get a gay porn subscription in his name sent to his parents house...

This is one thing i would avoid all together IMHO. In our sue happy little world this could bring you a world of hurt. Carry a gun or a stick. Using a sword on a dog could end up in several bad scenarios for yourself. A. you have to let the animal get pretty damned close and with any bully breed that is a bad idea. Second this could land you in court very quickly. A. for animal cruelty (thanks to all the hippy liberals our there) or B. when you injure the dog and the owner takes you to court for vet bills/ restitution/ Oh my poor dog. Sounds nuts?? Well it is the same scenario as someone breaking into a home, being shot but not killed. then the robber sues the homeowner for lost work and the fear they experienced and then wins. Sounds nuts? well it happens.

I'm really sorry that hapend, that does suck. But as long as every thing got paid for don't go after him for more. You have a lot more to lose than he does, and people of unscrupulous nature are not fun to deal with. As far as shooting a dog that is attacking yours, you would most likely get into more trouble than its worth. Use either mace or a taser, a taser works really well for dogs, and the results are kinda funny (I'm sick I know) lol.

Man I feel your pain, I have been there done that, almost exactly! Except the dogs went after my wife. There were five of them. They knocked my wife down on my back porch; the fall bruised her from head to toe. Luckily my dog went after them and saved her. One of the five dogs disappeared that night. The others were taken by the Animal Control and put down when the house next door was seized.

That is the only time I lost my mind I had my double barrel loaded and was headed next door when my son and my wife stopped me. Had I got over there that day, well let’s say I am glad I still able to spend my time with my family! So don’t do anything stupid, they are not worth going to Prison over!!!!!!!!

I went after the drug dealers. Contact your local police and have them put under surveillance. Make sure that they understand that, unless they have the goods on them where they can lock them up and seize all their assets your life and the families will be in jeopardy, and if they can’t make that arrest then it’s not worth it!!!!!!!!

realistically you do not have to wait until the dog attacks. A dog with the means to kill or injure you that is a threatening nature within a certain distance means you have the right to defend yourself. This also depends on the location that you live in. Please check your local laws regarding this. Because once a bully breed gets ahold of you or God forbid my child it is pretty much over. Same thing as an armed intruder. He has the means to do life ending harm and if you are in fear of your life you have the right to defend yourself.

i have three bully breeds, you have to supervise them, my american bull wants to eat any dog he can see, but when i yell charlie no he stops in his tracks, i have a 1/2 english bull, this one dosnt listen, there fore she dosnt go out of the house with out a leash, and the most gentle of them all believe it or not, is a 10 year old brindle pit bull, he wouldnt hurt a fly, licks cats, dosnt even chase chickens, and melts when ya pet him, i am sorry you had a bad experience, people raise there pits to act like that, its a shame, they are a great breed of dog, and extremely smart and loyal. also being that he is a drug dealer, the gy cant afford the heat especially if he deals out of his house, so i wouldnt sweat it, shoot the dog and call the cops, if he gives you any $!@# later call the cops and say he tried to touch one of your kids.
