In order to avoid looking like this at age 29. Keep the day job!

I just forged my last blade until I get my sheath work done. I'll go ahead and finish this new one up and thats it till the sheaths are done. Here's a better picture of the blade. I just did a little profiling with the grinder. Its in the oven now.

29! haha. You have grey hairs that are 29!

Nice stuff, as always, Ray!

My eyes, my eyes,.......... Oh the humanity.

Why the "sock" on your head Big-Boy ? Never mind, I know..... You are just like me. All the hair on your head has moved to your ears and nose.

Good looking stuff you are doing there son. Now get busy and work with some "cow" so you can get back to forging. If you ever have any spare blades lying around, you can always send me one for testing.:D

Robert

I apologize, Ray!;) You are the image of youth. Though, a hard youth, to be sure. :D

I can't see any pictures but the knife pictures, I guess the ugly filter on my monitor is working overtime :p

Beautiful blades, ugly maker :)

Man these guys took all the wind outta my sails. So I'll just lie: Ray, you don't look a day over 70! :D

You do make the most beautiful knives though. Dang! If I lived anywhere near you I'd probably have to find an anvil and some hammers, because you make smithing look worthwhile. Your knives - every one - just pull on the strings to my heart, man. I am stunned.

Man Ray, my image of you is totally blown now. Love your knives (read REALLY LOVE THEM!) but I always pictured a weather early to mid forties guy with an Indiana Jones type hat on...not a spry young fella :D

I think you got me mixed up with Crocodile Dundee.

Raymond:
Great knives, every time I see one of yours I am wanting to ask you how you grind your bevel ricasco, do you do it sideways or longways or both/
In your photo on the unground blade I can see a slight dip down to the bevel, but in the finished product this slope is all but invisible.
Cheers Ron.

Ron, When I forge my blade there pretty much forged convex. When I grind I'll start using a 60 grit belt with a hard platen till I have removed the layer left by forging. I'll switch to a soft platen and stay with the 60 grit belt and kind of blend everything together before I step down in grits. Hard to explain how I do the area your asking about since its automatic with me. I started grinding this way about 8 years ago and never looked back.

Ray,
I kept my day job and it didnt help...Good to see you pounding iron again...
And your knife is bigger than Dundee's

Actually, yes, that's sort of the picture except with dark hair :D Gonna be out in Oregon next week but down south in Klamath Falls. Too bad you weren't closer! Once again, very nice work!

I always picture your knives being a direct replacement for when gents back in the by gone era's had to stop carrying around dueling swords

Ray super forged work, I have a special liking to forged blades with some hammer mark finish on them, like the one to the right in the picture. Might not be the first sold at a Blade show, but at a Mt. Man show I think it would be a winner.

Just my personal opinion.

Gene

Still some pretty cool pics to view though.

After taking another look at the Troll I bet I could make some good money if I got a piece of cardboard. Made me a sign and found me a busy on ramp to work. With so much beauty why let it go to waist.........
