Short hike today 3-3-08... (pic heavy)

What, flatlands got the big mountain climber scared?:eek::D:D:D
Let's say... a little nervous. :D :D I would love to go for a walk there though.

You wouldn't like it in the midwest U.S. Mikel.
When I went to Wisconsin like 8 years ago (Fountain City, pretty close to Winnona) I was kind of... dissapointed. I should have asked to go anywhere closer to the Rocky Mountains I guess. There wasn't any kind of mountain, hill... nothing! Beautiful though. Anyway... winter arrived and snow started covering everything... Quite funny to drive arround with no snowchains, no studded tires... not even winter tires! My family told me one day: Let's go skiing! Ok guys, you got to be kidding me... where do you intend to go skiing here? You mean cross country skiing, right? Well, we drove for a while and found one hill... don't ask me where it was because I have no idea. We went there at night so I couldn't see if there were any more hills arround. We went climbing a few times as well and as you can imagine... it was indoor climbing.

On vacation the took me to Wyoming to visit Devils Tower and to South Dakota to visit Mont Rushmore. Long story short... they had to keep me leashed... I kept on trying to climb them both. :D

Thanks for the kind words:thumbup:

Not really flat at all, no giant hills to climb but its far from flat, lots of up and down. Looking at it now, it's hard to tell it form the first picture but that shot was looking down about 100 ft to the stream and I wasn't quite half way down that hill.

I’m might try and get out tomorrow but it’s suppose to start raining today and then into tomorrow so we’ll see.

Sh00ter, I was kidding with Mikel - compared to the Alps, most of the rest of the world is flatland! :D BTW, the pics are great!

That stream looks trouty to me. Fun spot!

True :D

This weekend we wanted to go climbing to the Pirinees (Pombie Suzon route to the Midi, France) but it is snowing heavily now... so it will be too avalanche prone. I don't want to die young so I will try to take my gf to do some snowshoeing.

Hey shooter! How come you have so much free time? Vacation? I wish I could do outings during work days!

Great pics! I felt like I was right there with ya. I SO want to fish that pool below those rapids! I am up near the Canadian border and have 3 feet of ice on my lake. That is torture to look at.

p.s.- The best Tactical Tart is frosted cherry....mmmmm

Tactical tarts need to be brown sugar cinnamon, so they blend in to the enviorment. You dont want a sniper drawing a bead on your sprinkles! Maybe they'll do a digital frosting someday...I can only dream....

I’m a college student so before, between, or after classes if I don’t have something going on I try and get out. This week has been get so far in terms of free time; I’m getting ready to go out with my girlfriend for a short hike and picnic today. I’ll try and get some pics:thumbup:

I'll have to respectfully disagree and say that by far frosted strawberry is the best tactical tart:D

Sorry to hear about all the ice, things warmed up a bit here for the week and I’ve been taking advantage of it. I’ll try and get some more pics for you today;)

Torture? You don't dare saying that again... Hey Brian! Come over here... we have someone to beat up! :D

Three feet of ice? Any chances we can cut a BIG piece of it and tilt it until vertical? Oh boy... much better! Let's place it like an overhang!

You should build yourself an ice climbing bouldering wall in the backyard! I can only dream of that... Here in Spain we are having an unusually warm winter. Well, right now it is snowing heavily up in the mountains but I bet that it will be mostly gone in two weeks at most.

I wish I could go at least once to Canada for some ice climbing...

Yeah! Go do it! You can also take a nice picture of your gf and post it in a thread someone started not long ago here on Wilderness. I was a college student not long ago (I am 25 now and been working since November 2005). I got to say that I like it better now... no need to study on weekends at all! I usually wasted ice climbing/snow season because I had exams at the end of January... not any more!

Anyway, enjoy while you can

Here some pictures from today. It had poured last night so the water was all stirred up and several feet deeper in areas.

Couple of geese

You can see how stirred up the water was.

The arrow is pointing to a rock that I was sitting on last time I was here to get a picture of the rapids.
