Well, I figured I could post this hear, as it has to do with a RC 6.

It was the last day of this particualr job today, and I overheard someone say their friend tricked them, saying he gave him a high quality knife. Well, I decided to eavesdrop a little. His friend gave him a knife (I wasn't sure what at this time) and said to him "This is the last knife you'll ever need" (I believe that is what he said, I was eavesdropping, after all). Anyway, he decided he would test this theory. He said he went and started PRYING bricks out of the ground, and it worked fine until the last brick, where there was two bricks stuck together, and he tried to pry them apart, and the tip broke. The exact words out of his mouth were "John lied to me about this being the last knife I ever buy, as the tip snapped when I was only prying with it!". He continued on and said it was a piece of junk, and the warranty was probably a useless warranty not passed on to other people. (I still didn't know the knife at this point) Anyway, he said he realized it was "junk" and that "John tricked me". Anyway, that was the end of the conversation, so I approached this guy, and asked what the knife was. He said he wasn't positive of the company, only that the blade had said RAT Cutlery on it and RC 6 on it. After I had heard that, I told him he seriously should consider looking that knife up.

I said no more, as I feel he would be compelled to abuse it's warranty WAY to much, if he said "ONLY" prying.

How many people out there are really like this? Thinking like that, I mean. Honest, ONLY prying? (And bricks to top the only part)...

It is PRECISELY for this reason that I have objected strenuously to the activities of "Noss4" and other ignorant knife-abusers who believe destroying knives sets the standards against which their use should be judged. Such activities create the kinds of unrealistic expectations this person exhibited, in believing he had a "junk" knife because it couldn't be used to pry apart bricks.

Get the knife from the idiot and we will give you a brand new one for it.

Thanks for the offer, but did I mention he threw it away after the tip snapped? If not, I meant to. That, and I will never see the guy again. Last day on the job today.

I still can't believe he thought it was junk because it broke while prying bricks. That is crazy.

EDIT: Actually, I am going to see if he threw it in the job dumpster. Although I don't want a knife for it, if only the tip snapped I will be able yo use it for other things.

If your dumpster diving turns up a crying and abused RC-6, then send it to us and we'll send you another one.

We'll have to see if I can find it first. The dumpster is 8x30 and 7 feet tall, full of tear off and other garbage. Nothing disgusting at least =/.

Even if I don't find this, I have an RC 5 coming my way!

I compare that to trying to cut sheet metal with a good set of Fiskars scissors then crying when they chip or snap and complaining about quality. Bet he spends a lot on tools... more than he needs to.
The right tool for the right job!

No, we do not re-finish knives since normal wear and tear are not covered under warranty. Sure, you could break your knife and send it back for a new one and no one would ever know...except you ;)

Here's the thing though, if someone intentionally did that then that's the same as stealing and they have to live with it on their conscience. We've replaced a few knives since we've been in business, there has been a couple that we suspected were frauds but we replaced them anyway because that's the way our warranty works. We just believe that most people in the world are honest. And karma seems to always take care of those that aren't ;)

Get the knife from the idiot

that was my thought exactly as I was reading his post.., offer him $20 for his "junk" knife, reprofile a new tip on it, touch up the edge and I got me a perfectly good user RC-6 for $20!!!!(wouldn't take advantage of your A++ warranty since this is obvious abuse and "what comes around, goes around") It's just to bad he pitched it! Hopefully you can find it!

Something my pop always says to this day, "You can break about anything you set your mind to .. think things over first so you don't regret anything"

If he weren't such a complete idiot, he probably could have pried those bricks apart without damage to the knife. Slowly and carefully, pry with the middle of the blade or the ricasso, NOT the tip.

Take a guess what he couldn't find with both hands in the dark.

I have seen this time and time again, and I am a firm believer that justice is almost always served in every situation. Sometimes it may not be the way we want it, but karma has a way of of catching up with folks. That's the thing we love about the RAT Cutlery family. Almost every one we deal with are great, honest folks, and people we consider family. I'm sure we will always have a house idiot that will pop their head in every once in a while, but they won't last long with us and karma will bite them...mark my word. If everyone hasn't already figured it out by now.... RAT will always be more of a philosophy than a product. We set out to revolutionize the way this industry does business and we have made some enemies and a WHOLE lot of friends and family. RAT is about, and will always be about, the honest, hard working individual. Screw the dishonest assholes...they have no bearing on us.
