Short Story

I have seen this time and time again, and I am a firm believer that justice is almost always served in every situation. Sometimes it may not be the way we want it, but karma has a way of of catching up with folks. That's the thing we love about the RAT Cutlery family. Almost every one we deal with are great, honest folks, and people we consider family. I'm sure we will always have a house idiot that will pop their head in every once in a while, but they won't last long with us and karma will bite them...mark my word. If everyone hasn't already figured it out by now.... RAT will always be more of a philosophy than a product. We set out to revolutionize the way this industry does business and we have made some enemies and a WHOLE lot of friends and family. RAT is about, and will always be about, the honest, hard working individual. Screw the dishonest assholes...they have no bearing on us.

This is exactly why I bought mine and it won't be my last. Thank You.

What's with people using RATs on bricks??? I mean, they're tough, but still...

All I know is I don't eat soup with a fork, so why would I pry with a knife? Unless it's really thick (a metaphorical spork) and I really really have to. :D

I'm starting to belive there are more dumbasses in the world than are sane and smart people. A coworker of mine got a Benchmade as a gift for helping someone. First thing he did was poke the tip into his thumb:confused:

I traded him a bottle of Dewars for the knife, I did both him and the knife a favor I think.

I promise not to pry bricks with my RC-6. Unless I'm breaking out of something I'm trapped in. If I make it out, I'm not sending it back to you either.

This thread makes me think of that web site where they pound knifes though concrete with sledge hammers to determine if the knifes are any good.

If these guys ever test a RAT knife and then want it replaced I hope the RAT guys say NO.

This thread makes me think those guys at that site are ignorant abusers of tools who have no business telling anyone to do anything.

Opinions can be evaluated by the degree to which they correspond to objective reality. Those who abuse tools from ignorance have opinions, yes, but their opinions do not carry any weight because they do not correspond to reality.

talk some shit? I just bought a rat 4 5 days ago! I knew rowen made them I just dont know alot of details about rowen. I knew my Tom Brown Tracker was made by rowen although its design sucks the steel is great on it. So far the RC-4 has been really good but the finish is wearing fast from batoning. Personaly I dont care I just wondered if they could refinish it themselves but if they had to ship it to rowen it would be more of a financial loss to RAT so I understand why they dont re-finish now:)

I have never heard of a knife company warrantying the finish of their knives. The coating on RAT knives is extremely tough, but of course will wear off with use. This is only natural. Could you imagine the # of warranty claims Jeff would get if he covered the coating? It would be impossible to do. There is no such thing as a coating warranty when it comes to knives, and there is good reason for it...it's completely impractical.

I find "that guy and his site" to be entertaining and have watched many of the videos, but I certainly do not base my knife purchases based off the results of his so-called "tests". If taken for what it is(a guy putting knifes through abuse and not real world situations) I say more power to him, but for those who base they purchases off what they see there....., well more power to them too, lol!! Abuse your knife and see what happens.., either you're out a knife or you're gonna get hurt, or both.

I'm starting to belive there are more dumbasses in the world than are sane and smart people.

I started thinking this quite a while back.., you wouldn't think it, but it's amazing how many idiots you encounter driving a truck!!

"Hey can you spread that 2" clean(a rock size) about an inch thick"(and they're dead serious mind you)..., all I can do is shake my head and say "sure"

Just as a comparison.... I don't think Busse warranties the coating either but it can be recoated if you want it redone, at your cost. Coatings wear with use. Satin finishes scratch with use. It's to be expected.

That guy is indeed a moron. The guy breaking that blade probably kept him from seriously injuring himself or someone else down the line.

It is too bad that he not only failed to value and abused the knife and gift, but the firendship as well.

Jeff it is an honor to be doing business with such a company as you guys have created.

When I sent my Busse SJTac in they refinished it and made it look like a brand new knife, new handles etc but I had broken a handle.

Strider also re striped my SMF when I sent it in.

both did it for free.

What was the price point on those two knives?

Was it around a hundred bucks?

If I spent 4 or 5 hunderd bucks for a knife I'd expect it to be refinished for free, better come with the happy ending as well.:D

I guess the real problem would be that you guys
don't make the knives.

I was trying to keep my mouth shut about this deal, but I just cant. Here is the way I see it. Rowen does not make RAT knives!!! RAT/Rowen/Customer "makes" Rat knives. Even though we are separate companies/individuals, its a team effort. Mike and Jeff work there asses off making RAT cutlery a success, so do we, and so do you, to purchase our products. We ALL benefit from what is "RAT Cutlery" and we ALL "Make" RAT Cutlery.

That's the way I see it for what its worth. But then again I've been told
I'm an opinionated SOB to. So be it.:D

No, you pre-paid for it. If you are really worried about finish scratches, buy one for the shelf and one for using, and you're still ahead of Busse on cost.

I so agree with that statement.
And, I also believe in what goes around comes around.
Acting like an ignorant idiot and and blaming other people for your troubles is just asking for a good dose of karma.
And not the good kind.
I always try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. Fairly.

If you would like to have your blade re-coated please send it back to us at the factory and we will re-coat it FREE of charge. All we ask is that you pay the return shipping as the knife did not fail in any way. Our address is below.

Thanks for using a RAT Cutlery Blade:D
