short stout fixed blade suggestions

I got a Daniel Koster EDC a little while ago and I absolutely love it! It has a 3.5" blade with a high hollow grind from a 3/16" stock. The natural canvas micarta handle is really well sculpted and fits my hand perfectly. My specific knife is his final prototype of his EDC model. I believe they will be coming out any time or maybe are already out.

Seconded. Or rather first-ed. I have the first prototype EDC he made, and it is one hell of a nice knife. I'm not sure of his prices on the production pieces, but I'd bet they are more than the OP has in his budget.

And a +1 on anything done by Michael Morris. Great work at very reasonable prices for what you get.

I'm really happy with my izula...got scales and it's even better. also, check out Koyote's thread on EDC Convex...one of my favorite knives...

These three are pretty popular....

Becker with cordwrap and jimping, Izula with cutting surface stripped clean, Bravo with optional handle scales...

Becker Neckers the most affordable, BRKT Bravo is the nicest, the Izula somewhere in between.

Totally in agreement about the Bravo Necker (I have one -Bravo Necker 2-

This thread really brought up some nice stubby knives. Thank you.

Check out an Entrek Lynx. The next step up in size would be the Badger. Awesome knives for the money.

My Becker bk2 is meaty knife built like a tank

I'm looking for a not-too-expensive, less than 3" fixed
blade, and am looking for suggestions.

Anyone have experience with Izula?

Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks

Been putting Izula through its paces. Used a custom knife to cut through plastic that put a quarter inch fold in the cutting edge. Finished job with Izula
no rollovers edge as sharp as ever, next used Izula cutting edge to pry open a light gauge metal lid that was frozen shut. It finally opened after much effort.
Still no damage to blade edge. Esee 1095 is great!
