gee Mike.. I guess we didn't see the same protos at SPYDERCO..
There was the CHINOOK 2 from JAK..its alot leaner n meaner than the Chinook...a real folding bowie..
The ATR..compression frame lock, cobra hood opener, titanium handles with mulipul indexing points for grip change and rotation,
ATX a smaller version of the ATR...
VEry VEry cool knife...
several Bob Lums..including two fixed blades..a Bolo style blade and a really sweet Tanto...
Or the Meerkat,,the split liner you mentioned..a fully sculptured handle, in a Navigator size knife that has a positive split liner locking system..
The Lil Temperance 2's..tweaked versions of the protos from this past year that include 3-D handles, inset compression lock, indexing clip for grip change and two blade designs...
or the Mini UULU..a very cool working tool based on the large UULU that was protoed last year..The small one is a definate keeper..you adjust the blade depth as needed...that isn't cool????
gee Mike...
or the new Laci Szabo folding UUK version #1..Version #2 was in plastic..framelock compression lock, Kin-Op system, spoon clip..and of course Laci's outrageous design!
or Fred Perrins fixed blade Military...
or any of the other protos that were on display...
People were about 5-6 deep most of the time at the Proto Table at SPYDERCO..seems a lot of people thought the Spydie protos were VERY rocking...hmmm there certainly were ALOT of magazines there checking out the protos...
Guess uniqueness is in the eye of the beholder...
Personally I thought the SPYDERCO Protos rocked.....
