yes, she'll serve you well. go with the 112 if you want something slightly smaller.

The best way to find out why is to go and get one, then you will understand. You won't regret it. I own alot of folders but the 110 has a special place, very high in the ranking. One of the best lockbacks ever made. Sturdy, sharp and easy sharpenable steel, appealing to the eye, basic materials, no frizles or small screws, a suberb cutting machine. It's design is timeless, you only can experience this by holding it and using it.
From the steels in my knves, I like 420HC from Buck the best. It gets razorsharp in no time and cuts like hell. It does react very nice to the strop.
It's reputation is well deserved.

The 110 is a classic. I've had mine for 15 years and its been fishing with me as a boy, to Iraq and A-Stan while I was in the service and now is on my duty belt at the PD. I'm gonna hand it down to my eldest someday. There are already so many stories associated with my 110, it's a really special knife and built like a tank. Do yourself a favor and pick up the one of the most significant knives in American history.

I carried a 110 for 16 yrs as my EDC. The only reason I quit carring it was I lost it. My replacement was pocket clip knifes instead of a sheath knife.
In 16 yrs my 110 never failed me. It never loosened up. Its a very solid knife. You will not find a better knife.

We're all slightly biased in this subforum... but YES! Get a Buck 110! There's a whole world of different options available if you check out the Custom Shop on Buck's website. Or, do a little research and scour the auction site(s) for the particular year you want, if you're looking for a particular production year with a certain blade steel. My favorites are the late 60s/early 70s 110s. Of course, I still lust after a stag/BG-42 custom... (good luck! ;))

Is this a trick question? My 110 is 25+ years old. It's the tank of knives. If you can afford get the AG from Cabela's.

All too funny.

This question was like asking the pastor if you should come to church on Sunday.

The Paperstone handled ones are also very nice, and a good bit lighter that the standard 110. Buck's 420HC is nothing at all like any other 420 steel. Buck's is more combarable to AUS8, perhaps even better. It sharpens easily to a hair-shaving edge, and holds the edge through a good bit of use. I strongly doubt you will regret owning one. Also try the Bucklite Max Large (model 486) if you like the 110's general blade shape but want low weight and a pocket clip at a very affordable price (around 20 dollars).

I took a Buck 110 and Randall 15 with me to OEF. They served me well and if I died there I felt that those 2 knives would be things I would want to go out with. I have many to choose from but for me they were my choice. Given that the Randall is $500 or so I think it speaks well what I think of a Buck 110.

BG, what's funny is I was going to start a "NO" campaign. I just couldn't bring myself to slander my old friend. I've thought about it much today. Wondering just where lost 110s end up. It use to say in the Buck paper work that Bucks do get stolen. Well something to that effect. It compared Bucks to jewelry. This thread has taken be back 33 yrs. I still remember as a young boy on my Birthday opening it. The "little" package was so heavy. My mom teased it was a rock not knowing what waited inside. She hit then ceiling when I opened it up and I started jumping up and down w/ joy. Man did my uncle get into trouble that day. Things worked out though. Mom put it up and I was allowed to carry it when I went hunting. I cleaned/skinned lots of squirrels, rabbits, fish, gators, hogs, and deer. I grew up w/ a love for bow hunting. But most of all I loved working with my knife. I can remember looking at the beautiful knife in my hand. It was so huge. If the chase for game wasn't enough to keep me in the field another change to carry my knife was. Lord sometimes that 440c steel was stubborn to sharpen. Once I got it though, wow..... Just wow, it would cut before the edge touch the surface it seemed like. Finally it became my EDC and thru the yrs that huge sheath got smaller on my side as I grew up. I sewed that sheath up so many times. It was my steak knife at home or restraints I was never ashamed of my knife. I knew where ever dent in the brass bolsters "ends is what I called em" came from. I just hope where ever it is now its serving someone as well as it served me.

Yes, it's awful hard to say anything bad about deer hunting sunsets or apple pie or motherhood or a Buck 110.

:)

If you just feel that the 110 is a big hunk of knife then try the 112 Ranger, if that is too much then try the 55, if that seems big then try the 505 Knight, if open that one and just doesn't feel right, give the 525 Gent a handle and if that is still not to your liking grab a DymondWood 305 Lancer......after that a chip of flint is your only choice.....If a comet were ever to hit earth a bunch of 110s would still be left.......300Bucks

k. I just got one today, Wow. I really am suprized at how solid this knife is built. I thought it would be a little different than it actually is. cant believe i didnt get it sooner. lol.

You like how smooth that blade moves. Does that knife not have the best balance?

Yes. I've owned one for almost 40 years and would put it on my top five "must have" list.
