Should I buy the Manix or save for a large Sebenza?

Question 1 - Why no boyle dent on the lock release?

Question 2 - Who was the actor that played Manix in the old television series?

Guys, this means that the sebenza is better by design because it doesnt wiggle?

I don't think so. The Manix is designed to have some. I just don't like it. If I could find one without wiggle I'd be all over it.

I cant say for the Manix, but Mr. Glesser had said the dent wasn't necessary on the Chinook because "we made the opening for the lockbar so small and the depth of the lock so deep, that a Boye indent isn't necessary". I would imagine since the Manix is of similar construction the answer would be the same.

I lost my large Sebenza, and on advice of people here purchased a Manix. Thank you for that advice.

NO blade play. Rock solid. Perfect balance and ergonomics. This is the first knife that I have purchased that exceeded my expectations right out of the box.

It is bigger and much wider than the large Sebbie, and it works for me as an EDC, but some might find it too big for EDC.

I thought about a Sebbie for bragging rights but then it occurred to me that no one I knew could appreciate the knife. Only knife knuts know what a Sebbie is. My choice was the Manix and I am thrilled with my choice. :D

Yeah, I liked it, but it was too big for me to pocket carry. The Sebenza is a more practical size, stouter, and much higher quality knife, so I not only like it more, I can carry it all the time.

Where did that come from? Reading this thread is the first time I've seen statements that the blade play is part of the design, and I don't believe it for a second.
If it has blade play it's because it is poorly fit.
I sent my Manix back to Spyderco because of play. They didn't redesign it, or "unengineer" it. They fixed it ;)

would you recommend a chinook II over a sebbie also in terms of toughness and overall value?
Easily. There was no play in the Chinook II nor the Manix I have now, but even if there was it would still not effect any decision I would make. Lock security, strength, edge retention, cutting ability, ease of resharpening, etc., are all much higher. I would go with the Manix for EDC though as the blade profile is more utitilarian.

When I'm wearing dress pants that don't get along well with the large Manix I put it in a Western Case Co. [(800) 310-3023] pouch that distributes the bulkiness throughout the pocket very well and has an opening at the top for easy removal.

excuse me, i this is my post:

What if Sebenza makes a G10handle, bigger, thikker handle, blade? that u can open up- clean up, and close?

My question is:

Whoooooooooooo is better by design?
Sorry , if it wiggles, then its not perfect. Seems to me that the manix is only good because of it being bigger.

sorry guys but the manix has ben here for how long?
The sebenza has been here for how long?

What are the bad things about the sebe? What r the bad things about the Manix?

u make me apreciate the sebenza more

Personally I think the Sebenza is a dawg ugly knife. At least the Manix is good looking. I'd go Manix.

Note: I'm not looking for a fight just placing my vote and stating my own opinion.

excuse me, I think there is something wrong here

This is my post: the Sebenza is beautiful and perfect
I am starting to think that most posts are by people who are jealous or cant afford it.

I also think that spyderco people are becoming something in the way of good knife design by being fanatics.

I am sorry this post got so long.
I got what I wanted out of it

It could then be argued that you defend the sebenza to justify to yourself the ammount you spent on it.

A good knife is a good knife.

no offense, but sharpmaker, you sound like you're either mentally challenged, or simply a troll. my apologies in advance if you're both.

I will buy a sebenza and am not mentally challanged. I will buy a sebe one day.

Seriously guys I am not a troll, but I hate disrespect of somthing worth respect like a sebe.

Low HRC for the steel thus edge will roll/deform easier, integral lock is problematic with torques and has ergonomic isses, poor handle ergonomics and security in genral, and low ease of resharpening due to initial edge configuration
[*]. Reeve is very difficult to deal with with direct performance questions and handles negative feedback as well as Gilligan responds in a crisis.

What r the bad things about the Manix?
Clip is a bit squarish and has ergonomic issues, lock bar could have a cutout to lower accidental pressure releases, fully round the spine and the inside of the liners for comfort. It is a pretty solid design overall with no real significant faults.

[*]the convex edge applied isn't as easy to touchup on a Sharpmaker as the edge on most NIB Spyderco's which respond instantly with a few passes on the fine rods even on the 15 degree setting.

For the record I have two Sebenzas, a large and a small and after seeing them in person, carrying them and using them I still think they are UGLY!

Tanks yes, but tanks are ugly too.

Of course I drive a Pinzgauer and I think they are beautiful so go figure.

I'd still go Manix or maybe Chinook even. The Sebanzas are a great engineered knife no question about it, but are they worth the price? I'm sorry but you are buying a lot of name there. Just my take on it. Chris is a great guy though I'll give him that.

That style of really abbreviated net banter and total lack of grammer is really common to a lot of people who do a lot of irc and other forms of chatting, it is almost universal to those who text message on phones and such a lot. It doesn't indicate anything beyond lack of ability to touch type.
