Should I pull the trigger on the Paramilitary 3?

I had a pm2 but sold it. I still have my delica 4. So should I get another pm2 or get the pm3?

I am debating whether getting the Maxamet PM2 or PM3. I have a few PM2's, and really like them, but I really like the size of the PM3! Especially since I have a Manix 2 in Maxamet, which is about the same blade size as the PM2.
they are coming out with some great PM3 versions, including a Cru-Wear, which will be great. love Cru-Wear!

Honestly, what do you like/not like about these knives, what size do you want, why are you considering a PM2 when you had one and sold it? Throw us a bone here. The PM is very widely liked, personally I find the compression lock a bit awkward to use and it's a bit large/heavy for me to EDC. If you like the Delica you might like its big brother, the Endura.

The para3 is polarizing, if you like deep carry, then no, don't go for it. If you like you knife to sit quite proud, then you'll probably enjoy it.

The response I have seen has been underwhelming.

Why this knife and the Sage 5 both debuted in the same year or why they even exist at the same time is baffling to me.

Do you want to?

You currently have a lot of choices for a Para3 and by the end of the year even more.

Current
  1. Para3 CPM-S30V Black G-10
  2. Para3 CPM-S30V ComboEdge Black G-10
  3. Para3 CPM-S30V Digital Camo G-10
  4. Para3 CPM-S30V SpyderEdge Black G-10
  5. Para3 CPM-S30V Black Blade Black G-10

Upcoming
  1. Para3 CPM-S30V Black Blade Digital Camo G-10
  2. Para3 CPM-S110V Dark Blue G-10
  3. Para3 CPM-S90V Textured CF Sprint
  4. Para3 CRU-WEAR Gray G-10 Sprint
  5. Para3 Maxamet Dark Gray G-10

The PM2 is the only knife I like MORE each time I use it. So naturally, when a smaller version came out, I was all over it. I do love the size. I do NOT like how high it rides in my pocket. If it would ride as high as the pm2, i think i'd be on cloud nine. YMMV

I'm a fan of smaller knives, so thought I would love the PM3, and while I did like it, I certainly didn't love it. One thing that annoyed me is that the blade stock is actually slightly thicker than that of the PM2, which doesn't make any sense to me. Also, partly as a result of the thick blade stock, the transition from the ricasso to the plunge grind is dramatic and leaves a sharp edge there that is uncomfortable. The PM3 also feels slightly bulkier in the pocket than the PM2 due to its shape.

Still a good knife, but I wish it were more of a slimmed down version of the PM2 rather than its fat little brother. If they gone more towards the approach taken with the Jes Horn models, it would have been a superior knife, in my opinion.

I just like getting up to date information on knives that I am interested in. No need to be mr sassypants
Exactly what information? You asked no specific questions or elaborated in any way. Did you read any of the many reviews on here or other places? With all the experience you have with knives and all the previous recommendations you have been given (100+), it is hard to understand why you keep having issues with deciding "what knife". At a certain point we can't keep holding your hand. You have to figure some stuff out on your own. Why not try the PM3 and sell it if you don't like it. You already know what the PM2 is like. You have in fact been recommended the PM3 before when you wanted a beefier delica.

VERY NICE CATCH! I have both the PM2 and PM3, but hadn't noticed the difference in blade-stock thickness. My anib folders generally sit in their factory boxes in a larger cardboard box...waiting for me to sell them again. I have bought a ton of Spydies, but have only carried a Spyderco (Caly3) at one time many yrs ago in an office invironment.
Truly, the 0.150" blade thickness is NOT something that I would consciously want for my casual carry...in a 3" blade. I wish Sal would chime in here, to give us his take on this knife and blade thickness...

to JDX...I can understand that some folks are becoming "impatient" with your recurring similar threads. Perhaps you DO serve a purpose, as we have seen some good info posted here. I suppose that, since you keep asking for these comments, you'll have to learn to roll with the punch.

Totally agree. I ve never seen the appeal of a 3 inch PM2.

I like mine. I was surprised that in my XL hands that it was still comfortable. Would I pick it over the Para 2? No. But it's a fun little blade to carry to switch things up. I will likely pick up the sprint runs that come out.
