John, I think you're half right. (You can see that I'm already in "evaluation mode". ) I get many compliments from students when I wear the tie, so I think they like the weirdness of the tie itself. But they are not very fond of what it represents, and most don't share my enthusiasm for tests as an opportunity to show what they've learned and to identify what still needs some work.

(I think that was a recurring comedy sketch on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in back in the late 1960s early 1970s.)
