Nice old Colt, Dave :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Any idea of the year it was made?
Thank you. That .380 has been in my family since the early 1900s. Gifted to me by my father years ago. My great great grandfather gave it to my great grandfather (on dad’s side) to protect my great grandmother. We’re not exactly sure of the date and I’ve emailed Colt and others to try to verify but the serial number just puts it in an approximate era. That caliber of the “pocket hammerless” was introduced in 1908. It was a popular Browning design sidearm in its day, and influences pistol designs to this day. I have run rounds through it at the range recently. It still works as new and the iron sights are accurate. I have a deep affinity for .380 cal because of this heirloom. Pretty cool! Here’s a good article about them: https://athlonoutdoors.com/article/general-officers-pistols-colt-pocket-hammerless-model-1903-1908/
