Show me what is hiding under your handles.

That's a great idea. I don't have a BK in hand at this moment, but there might be a place either in the sheath or even on the grip that one might store the wrench. Something to contemplate when deciding what mods to do.

I keep an allen wrench in my BK2 knife kit.

Under the handle is where I keep the reserve tactical bacon..

RTB™ will save your life in a jam!

:D

If you fill the 'void' on your BK14 with some fire kit/tinder etc, and then hold it in place with some old bicycle inner tube, does that count?

Yea i dont keep anything in the handles, but i think i will throw in a little fishing line and a few hooks. I keep the allen wrench on the factory sheath with a paracord bracelet i made.

I have the sheath.....

I have a horrible feeling I may have wanged it!

But I'm hoping its where my two EnZo blades are hiding....

....thanks for the help though

Glad to see this thread topic come up.
It used to be a really popular topic over in Wilderness, back before that forum got divided up, and before everyone started putting micarta on their knives. :p
I have no idea who's responsible for that trend. No one remembers. :D

I have another knife with the same sheath and I keep a Gerber issued multi tool in it and a fero rod from LMF in there. I can get about one package of Quick tabs in the bottom and that's it. It just seems when I put my fishing kti, fire kit, and FAK together I'm always looking for more room. I guess I need to get out of the mind set that I'm better to have it and not need it. I spent 40+ years hang'n outside and never needed anything other than my knife and a lighter so I'm not sure why I think I need more now.

That other stuff would just make life more enjoyable if I had it along. For the life of me I can't figure out how to stuff a two person space blanket or bivy in my knife handle though. :) Growing up we spent the night fishing with nothing more than a fire. Most times we never even took anything to sleep on, just laid out on the bank when we got tired of watching our poles.

I keep my porn under there. My wife would never think of looking there! Oh, wait...

And I never get tired of looking at my pole.

Back in the august 2011 challenge, I had put some extra spiderwire on a small card under there. Please note that I said extra. I had my primary in an easier to reach place. But things like that, extra tinder, sewing supplies, or hooks and sinkers (padded to prevent rattle) would be good IMO. or anything that you might need on a longshot but insist on taking. Just make darn sure you have two allen wrenches secured to you at all times.

If I did it I would swap screws for stainless flat head machine thread and put a washer on the laynard, pretty much like ESEE does on the Laser. Most likely I'll just keep using my altoids tin and waxed cotton. I'm starting to become a bit fan of waxed cotton over peanut butter and jelly. I don't need fire straws with wax. :)

A quick trip to Lowes, a couple minutes with a dremel, and you can have an awesome allen wrench holder on your BK2 sheath very, very easily.

I could just put it in the pouch with my fire starting stuff too. I did consider hafting one and tying it to one of the holes. Don't know...My 17 should be here today and I can start playing with it.

Too funny, the handles on the BK17 are not hollow. Problem solved. :)

I did get blade with the new etched logo and new coating, which i was hoping for. The knife wasn't very sharp out of the box, but I've started working on that already. I think I am going to use it as is for a while before striping it down. I am thinking about wraping the handle with a "Ranger Strip" rather than using a Ranger Band. One of the screw holes is creating a hot spot on my thumb while sharpening the knife. That should solve that issue and also keep critter juice out of the screw holes when cleaning deer and such. The ergonomics of the handle are fantastic and fit my hand perfect. I'll see if I can get some time this weekend to put this blade to work.

Allen wrench so you can take the scales off...

oh wait :(
It can be done, you could just modify the scales like Hogue did on their fixed blades.
I don't keep anything under my Grivory just because it's not convenient or practical for me. I keep charcloth in the handle compartment of my ESEE fire kit, and PJCBs in an old OD plastic military match safe. These are both watertight, but the Becker scales aren't. If I, say, flip a kayak and get all wet and need to start a fire quickly to dry off and warm up, I need the tinder I carry to be dry.
Anything else I could carry would just be one more thing to forget that it's in my kit. Not knowing you have it is the same as not having it IMO.

I have never done this, but i don't see the hurt in stuffing your handles with cotton balls or dryer lint...If you absolutely can't find any dry tinder, it will always be there just incase. kinda like a fire ax behind glass:D In fact, I think when i get a bk2 I will do that...
