Had time at the end of the semester to finish this for a Christmas gift. The thread on parkerizing inspired me to try a pattern weld again.

1084,1095 and 15n20 - ebony and maple handle.

That's a really nice looking knife.
Great work

Looking at these gifts make me wish I were a gift receiving relative or friend of y'all's... :)

View attachment 678223For my daughter.
Just rough ground and heat treated. Made from Vtoku2 steel.
Have to complete tomorrow!

Now I don't feel so bad now that I'm running way behind myself! LOL

Straining to finish a little kitchen petty or utility knife for my dad. He uses like a 40 year old Japanese serrated steak knife for everything in the kitchen, so I figured this would be something close that he would use. It's about 5 1/2" blade of 1084, bocote and dyed maple burl with brass handle. Trying to finish up a basswood and leather saya/scabbard at the same time I'm finishing up the handle finish, then some sharpening... Gonna cut it close as my timeline has me putting paste wax and buffing it on Christmas morning before visiting him!

I did a few this year. Most pics are pre final finish as I was too tired to take final pics last night.

I did two of these friction folders for two nephews. They are nearly identical.

This was part of a deal I made with Kerry Stagmer at his annual Fire and Brimstone Hammer In. I've had this knife in the works for a while now, but It has kind of turned into a christmas present. 1084, Jarrah Burl Bolsters, Purple Heart, g-flex epxy, stainless pins/tubes, white G-10 liners, and a leather slip sheath I made.

First two knives to ever come out of my garage, both Christmas presents. One for my father-in-law and one for my uncle. Both 52100 @ 62 Hrc. Both first 2 wa style handles. Both first 2 free hand ground bevels. Both full of mistakes, still very proud of both. Only wish I had time to hand rub them before Christmas but the belt finish will have to do.

Threw some wax on the blackwood and started buffing it with some denim and it got purty.

This started as a pairing knife but then I just started having fun. My uncle needed a new shop knife.
