Funny this thread started when I got the "big blade bug" Heres what I started...just because I wanted to make something big....only problem is that I never thought of how I was going to heat treat it .... its 3/16 1095 16" OAL with a 10" cutting edge..

hey jim when you goignto be droping in down in the hanover area i have a kiln thats 18 inch deep that should help you out

being O1 i should be able to get something worked out for you not like you need a 30 min soak time at 2000 like i have to for cpm154

Hey Deker, just wanted to know if you have had time to beat that drive shaft I gave you yet.

I got started on it. It's flattened out, but not a blade shape yet. Life snuck up on me recently and I've been pretty close to no shop time :( In AZ this week for work and will hopefully get a LITTLE time this weekend, but we just rescued a new dog before I left and I'm going to need to handle the dogs most of the weekend to give my wife a break. It'll get posted here as soon as it starts to look like something, trust me :)

What do you call the pattern in the guard on the second one? I really like the look of it and the symmetry of it is right up my alley as well.
