Show me your horn!

Always enjoy seeing peoples horn handled knives, one of my favorite materials. Just thought I'd post a picture of three Marble's knives that I have that are Buffalo Horn. The top one is a Marble's Bison, then a Woodcraft, and the bottom is a Fieldcraft. Let's keep this going with some more pictures.

wackafew are the marbles from the maker or did you send the knives to a custom guy to get the handles. they are simply gorgeous & elevate an old great pattern to new heights.

Those are fantastic looking. So far, the only Ram's horn I bought was a Smith and Wesson import, before I really knew what was going on. I gifted it to a friend, but I still want to pick up some ram and buffalo horn slipjoints for my collection. Thanks for the inspiration!

This one had a case of worms. I think it gives it a bit of character anyways.

These Marbles came from the factory in Gladstone MI that way. Not a custom. Too bad Marbles isn't making knives any more.

Very stout knives.

No doubt, as I have the same one. Along with others in ram or buffalo horn, both fixed & folders.
Some day I'll learn how to post pics. Finally bought the digital camera, so that's a good start. :)
Love these threads on horn & stag.

once you get them on your computer you can upload to photobucket or similar image host.Theres some instructions in BRL's subforum on how to post pictures.

You can't see it but there are horn scales under the brass on this old Italian knife.
Sorry, my only horn handled knife but kind of interesting. I dug it up in my garden many
years ago.

That things pretty cool Robin

The amazing thing is the condition. I dug it up after owning the house for 20 odd years from under a much older shrub, about 3 1/2 feet down. It was in pure sand which is likely the reason it survived. But how did a 19th century Italian knife get burried there in central Ontario??

Best regards

Robin

Very interesting tale Robin, it was buried very deep.Perhaps you should start some more digging....Rather odd that it would be there, is it near the building? Might have fallen out from a construction worker's pocket, an Italian immigrant?

Ram's Horn I like but only have a RAT3 in it and that's not Traditional. Got an Opinel filet knife in blonde horn and an Italian equal end Shadow in the same. Just inept with a camera....

Yes, it was right next to the foundation, thats why I was digging the shrub up. The house was built in 1905 so if it was dropped by someone building the house it was there for over 80 years. I real mystery.
