Had to locate this one, it was a gift and its so pretty I don't use it for much more than mail and package duties lol. Ka-Bar MK1

If I remember correctly, AG Russell had two folding knives with leather scales. I don't see that they are still on the site.

They had a checkered pattern, and were compressed if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I have to admit that my KaBar Mark I is one knife that I have almost not used at all. I fell in love with the pics when it came out. It is well made, fits my hands well, good steel. But I just don't have a good reason to use it. It surely is pretty in my eyes, though.

Ladies and gentleman, there does exist one leather slipjoint that I know of. :)
This little guy is a kingston slipjoint I found at my great grandpas house and it originally had these cheesy plastic scales that I hated. So I popped them off and glued some thick veg-tanned leather onto it

Here it is with te scales off and the rocker pin peened back down

This is it dyed and sanded down some

Then I saturated it with superglue to harden it. And did some more sanding

Here it is with the final sanding and buffed on the buffing wheel

It looks and feels almost like horn. I did that probably 6 monthes ago and it's held up very well. The finish has dulled some but it polished right back up on the buffer
