Here are some "before" and "after" pix of my antiqued Mini Skirmish.
With the knife disassembled, I hand rubbed each scale with fine steel wool, then 400-grit, 800-grit, and finally 1000-grit WetorDry sandpaper.
I spent about 15 minutes per grit per scale (2 hours total time). Here is the result:
I'm too lazy to past images over my iphone right now. I mod almost every knife I get. If it's beyond my capability (tools or skills) I send them off to Reese Weiland. He's always late but worth the wait. Look at the link in my sig line to see videos with many modded knives.
This is a Cold Steel American Lawman I picked up for cheap. Sandblasted then bead blasted the finish off. Had a gentleman here on the forum make me some OD green scales for it. I then decided I would try my hand at adding some texture to the scales. Didnt turn out quite like I planned, but it suits me.
Convex-ground (as opposed to "flat-ground") this one by hand on a stone and brought down the bevels to some 10° per side:
And on these, I ground down that stupidly-placed hump in the handle of the Delicas and Enduras. The blue Endura is there for comparison (it has not been modified.) I think you can hardly tell a difference
Sorry about the bad pics; but here it is.
My Axis Mouse (Modified Presidio)
Mini-Ritter (with Blue/Black G10 Scales)
Full size Ritter (With Corian Scales)
Scallion (Modified for tip up carry, With Textalite Scales, Yellow Textalite - stained)
