my thoughts exactly, except i do not have an FFBM. So if this big boy live sup to its name, i will be done with my search for the ultimate chopper, beater, user etc

Hello! and Welcome to the Busse forum.

Yes, that black coated blade is thinner than the tan, but those are two different model knives. The black is the latest iteration in the Battle Mistress series, the Combat Grade Nuclear Melted Fusion Battle Mistress (CG NMFBM). The tan was a Fat Flat Fusion Battle Mistress.

In the 8-9" range, you would be looking for a Steel Heart Ergo (SH-E) or the newer Fusion Steel Heart (FSH) These can be had only on the secondary market, so keep an eye on the 'Busse for Sale' forum or eBay. There are some new and used FSH on the sale forum right now.

Busse knives do not have a hollow grind, save for perhaps the odd Custom Shop variant. Busse are designed and built as hard-use knives, and tend not to have the thin edges of a hollow grind.

I was thinking the same thing as I was wielding my LE...."Holy ****, what if this fell out of my hands right now". This is my new zombie slayer.

BTW I have terrible allergies also have suffered with them all my life so I know how you feel.
