Pretty cool definitely different, who made it? Thanks,

JoelSM's traditional beast is sold by A. G. Russell, and the pattern is called a "Sunfish", or sometimes, an "Elephant's Toenail".

There is also a "Sunfish Forge", but I don't know if he makes "sunfish"-pattern folders.

A. G. Russell does not have them in stock right now (I know because I checked last night), but Great Eastern Cutlery makes something similar.

Correct - it is an AG Russell Sunfish. I have the GEC Sunfish as well, but the AG Russell dwarfs it. The unique aspect of the AG Russell Sunfish is it's lock back design. The GEC Sunfish, Lumberjack, etc, are all slip joints. Aside from the AG I've never seen another lock back Sunfish. The AG really is a modern interpretation of a classic design. A "Moditional"?

Here's another "over built" traditional - AG Russell Large Folding Hunter. (Still available :)).

I have a lot of far more expensive knives, but the F&F on these AG Russell knives rival knives that cost 3-4x more. If your used to paying $200+ on knives, don't let the price on the Large Folding Hunter fool you into thinking it's a cheap piece of junk. The steel is 8cr15 - not a super steel, but it holds a decent edge and is easily brought back to shaving sharp on my Sharpmaker.
