  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Show me yours???

I'll add another dimension to the query, just because the wine I'm drinking tells me it's a good idea. Matching knives, fire-steel AND Piggyback sheaths (if you have one). Bring it.

I'm pretty sure all the Bark River sheaths can be piggybacked. I've tried with most of mine and they all seem to work. My Canadian set in the pic above is piggybacked :)

is that a custom ranger?

patina looks cool

Vance,

It's an RD-7 that was stripped and gripped by Ilbruche, he made the sheath and firesteel as well. He dubbed it the "Lone Ranger". I created the patina with Gulden's spicy brown......

Here are a few shots of my pocket knife / steel combo, courtesy of JK. The knife is patterned after his larger Hudson Bay model, and has walnut handles.

All the best,

I do really like the patina. Just some mustard on that one? Any chance you could PM me with the price you paid for that custom work? My RD9 and RD4 might like the same spa treatment!

Some great looking combos, I'm truly envious.

This is my only matching pair the Aussie forum knife by John Foxwell with tapered tang, antique ivory micarta and red liners, it's a joy to use. John made the knife and supplied a blank glued block with the liners and a 3/8th blind hole for the firesteel and left it to me to shape as I wanted.

I'll take a pic of them out of their pants;) this is all I got on file.

The key to that style of patina is not to rub or swirl the mustard a lot, but rather leave it on the blade in thick patches for 24 hours to get the deep, etched look. On the cost of the rehab, Bruce (Ilbruche) did this work as a part of a larger scope of work so I don't really know what he charged me, other than to say that I'm sure it wasn't enough....

Both nice combo's Snow. Who makes the top knife? I must say, this thread is going to make my wallet lighter.

I picked these two up at a flea market for $5.00 each. Anyone know if they're any good?

;)
