Pardon my ignorance, but I've owned a few different knives and they all had pretty standard main clip blade, spey and sheepsfoot combinations. I've seen this type of blade on a few different knives, and it looks similar to the shape of a straight razor. What exactly is the purpose of this shape, and what is it properly called? I see lots of the GEC number 15's with this blade, and to be honest, it will keep me from even thinking about buying one, if it's equipped with one of those. Just a standard clip for me, thanks.
It's a 'one arm blade'. You catch the hook on your boot heel, or something firm and you can lever the knife open with one hand. At first, I felt as you do, because they look odd, but I've grown to love it..... doubles as a fork too! I have that exact knife in Mr Bad Examples photo.... probably one of my favorite #15's. To my knowledge, it's the only caplifter GEC made with the one arm blade. Great for drinking beer and eating snacks!
