Show Off Your Leather!

my first couple of attempts. both made for a mora frost clipper, out of sheepskin from an old sheepskin jacket.
1st used waxed whipping twine (for rope) as thread:

2nd one started 20 mins after the first (because I didn't like the 1st) - thread was synthetic rope strands, coulor is from black boot polish.

both got scrapped in the end, the sheepskin was woryingly thin, and the belt loops wern't the most secure.

apologies for the bad photography.

Hola, Horacio, mi amigo.

That fist picture is of a knife and sheath that is in a display case on my shop wall. those are my initials woven into it. It is one of my most prized displays.

If you think, as I do, that the work is just amazing and fantastic in the photos, you should see it in your hand. Those hand cut strings "tenientos" are so small and thin they stagger your imagination, and then the prceision with which they are braided is most amazing too.

Here is a sheath done up by Paul Long for a Bardsley fighter I had aquired. It has a nice snug fit. The inlay is cape buffalo my buddy Joe gave me from a hunt he went on. The sheath and handle compliment each other very well. Photo courtesy of Mr. Long. Thanks for looking!

Beautifully done! I like the design and the execution. Please post more of your work.

Paul

Thanks, Paul - coming from a maker of your caliber, that's a welcome compliment. Most of what I've done before are just simple sheaths. This, along with what I have posted to this thread earlier, is one of my first attempts beyond 'plain'. I'm ready to 'kick it up a notch' on both my knife and sheath making. Here's another view.

I don't think I've posted this one yet.

Nice work Jacque!

TX- great holster. I just read through your DIY guide. I will definitely try that out when my Ruger KP89DC gets here.

Here's an interesting thing I did a few years ago. My brother has the set now.

Ignore the sales tag - after my brother saw the set, I couldn't sell it.

TX what dye are you using on those last knife sheaths? They look great, but then again all of your stuff looks great. One of these days I want to try one those holsters that you did for one of my Glocks, I really like that style.

Fiebing's Tan. Just their regular spirit-based stuff. Due to the way I apply it (wool daubers), it's comes out dark and (in my opinion) pleasantly rich.

Here is my first completed sheath I made for my Case Sodbuster. Its nothing wonderful, but I was pleased with myself.
