Show off your Scandi Fiddlebacks

There are bound to be some more scandis we can see with the recent batches.

This Esquire is a great little knife.

Here's my EDKarda. I love it, it's a carving machine!

Nathan - I really like that scandi esquire! Great photo!

Luke - That scandi ed karda is very nice. I love the black with the beauty mark.

My new scandi hiking buddy is scary. I was trying on sheaths and one was too tight because of a clip. She bit me on the way out. I new she was bad the minute I saw her dressed in black.

Thurin, did you get some use out of that Esquire yet? I'm really curious how it compares to your scandi HB, especially for whittling. A thorough review would be awesome but I'd be very happy with a quick comparison too.

Hasco, that blued HB looks awesome man, congrats!

My Bushboot got a Buddy today, check this out

That hiking buddy is gorgeous! Congratulations!

Thanks man, I couldn't be happier myself. On first impression the handle is a bit thinner than I'd like but I'm hoping a little bit of work with it will change my mind about that. I just split some pieces of wood with it & I'm gonna carve a netting needle (or two) with it tonight to get a better feel for it.

I'm glad it made it safely, goober.

I was just about to send you a pm that it got here today but that's no longer needed I guess.

Thanks again man, I hope you're still happy with our deal as well!

Just in case anyone is curious, I wanted this knife so badly that I stole it from Tinbanger right after he sharked it from the Halloween batch:rolleyes:

NO, I want it back after these pictures! If i would have held it any longer i would have backed out, haha. Enjoy

Well, shoot me an offer and I'll see what I can do about that

Just kidding, I think it's a keeper.

Hey Hasco, I just had another look at your pics & thought I noticed something that's different on mine; did Andy round off the spine on your HB?

The spine on mine is chamfered. I have noticed there is a variance on how much they are chamfered with each fiddleback, but I thought all of the new ones had some chamfering.

My Bushboot came like that too, but I was happy to see a sharp spine on my HB when it arrived. I initially assumed he left all the spines on Bushcraft style- or scandi-knives unchamfered until I took a closer look at your photo. I guess it just depends on Andy's mood how he finishes them

& just curious, but does anyone know if the bevels on scandi Fiddlebacks are fully flat, slightly convexed or slightly hollow perhaps?

One of the main tests I like to do with a knife is to see how quickly and easily it can carve a notch. Knowing I have a knife that I could use to get a fire by friction if I had to is one of the main reasons I carry a knife all the time. I love how quickly the fiddleback scandis just chew into wood with very little effort. This scandi recluse is up to the task. It cut a notch into this seasoned piece of bay in seconds. This one has the older thicker handles that fill the hand perfectly. The spalting is gorgeous and makes it a beautiful blend of form and function.

Dat spalting

I recently sold the Hiking Buddy and got this instead:

In all fairness, the Hiking Buddy is probably the better knife in terms of ergonomics. The handle -even though on the thin side- is super comfortable and the tip is perfectly centered from the handle. But it had one major flaw for me, it just didn't excite me as much as the Bushboot does.

OK, 2 birds with one stone. Attempting this from my new Imgur account and hoping to re-invigorate the Scandi conversation.
