Show off your traditional knife and Lighter

I like the No. 6, much more pocketable than the No. 8 (though I will still carry a No. 8). Have you tried the No. 7? It’s a nice in-between size.
Yes I have and I do like that one too. Well, fact is I'm very keen on all Opinels - such an original, simple. clever. effective and likeable thing, bit like the Zippo
Barrett and Will, I'll jump on the Opinel No. 7 bandwagon, too. I bought a No. 6 first, and was blown away by what a wonderful cutting tool it was, but it seemed a little small. Then I bought a No. 7, which still cut like a dream, but was a better size IMHO. Then I bought a No. 8 Garden Knife, which I liked, but was hard to directly compare to my 6 and 7. I gave the garden knife to my daughter as a "kitchen knife" when she moved to Spain, and she subsequently gave me an oak-handled Opinel No. 8. Great knife, but too big for pocket carry IMHO (although if I'm wearing pants with a tool pocket on the outside of the right leg, that's a perfect spot to carry a No. 8,

I seem to be following a numeric pattern, but I haven't bought a No. 9 (yet).

I gave up smoking (mainly cigars) more than 8 years ago, but I'll bet I could still dig up a Bic lighter around here somewhere!

Thanks. I did carve it. Here is what he looks like normally before I put the helmet on.

Good work. Are you a carver or whittler? My dad did people and animals, no paint, and he was a whittler :) The cup is a sweet touch.

Make sure you give some to friends and family. My dad’s long dead, but lives on in the figures he made of our Weimaraner and the NY library lions among others. He whittled over lunch with scrap wood from the shop.

What’s that coating is it dipped? Very cool (and durable!)
Thanks ! Just arrived today and I’m very impressed with the fit & “ finish “
I’m not sure what it actually is but seems very durable and has a great feel in hand . Zippo is calling it Iron Stone and I think the name is very appropriate lol. Although it is smooth to the touch but looks like it would be an aggressive finish .

I think it’s considered carving. I’ve only been into it for the last couple years or so, and have done 9 projects. I did a couple for my 5 year old and she’s had fun with them.
Very impressive my friend 🙂👍
Thanks Jack. I’ve got one more that I’ll carry next week sometime.
