Show Some Love. Show me Your Micarta and G-10. Traditional Knives Only Please!

Canal Street has done some pretty far out covers.... Here's my favorites.

I've enjoyed looking at the photos posted here, even though micarta doesn't really "move" me much. But I do have a Colt canoe with black G-10 handles (and titanium-coated carbon steel blades, to boot).

I made a number of custom scaled SAKS, years ago. The red is linen Micarta. The white is paper Micarta. The green is canvas Micarta. The orange is G-10. My favorite material to work with was the linen.

They took a long time to make, just because it was mostly hand work. I didn't have a lot of power tools. The tweezer and toothpick slots were really tough.

If you look around the Internet, there are quite a few people who do this work, just much better than mine. They've got the tools to do it right.

The projects were fun to do though!!!

The Case Backpockets are great knives. The black G-10 is beautiful, but a bit slippery in the hand. The Carhartt Rugged Duck G-10 has a MUCH better grip.

Thanks for taking the time to tell a little bit more on those awesome covers. I'll look around.

Trand, always a pleasure to see the denim micarta!
Thanks Jeff. GEC is supposed to be making a Northwoods in denim micarta soon. I hope it catches on.

What model is that lumberjack? I've never seen a knife with a saw like that, it's neat:thumbup:
It's a GEC #45 Lumberjack. A big guy at 4 3/8" closed. The saw blade locks open.

Very nice! Hard to pick a favorite out of those four!
Thanks!!

Oh, alright thanks! does the saw work pretty well for small branches or is it more of a novelty? I'm pretty interested in getting one of those, ive been looking for something with a decent saw on it.
