Wayne:

What tools do you use for the removal of your Victorinox rings?

I tried that one time in the past and I scuff and dinged up the handle something awful and havent tried again since,,
I'm fortunate enough to have a 2x72 grizzly belt grinder I dabble in knife making .
I tape the end with a couple layers of painters tape each side of the keychain loop and use a 320 belt to take it off. A simple belt sander would work clamped to a table or a bench vise and the tape kinda keeps you from going to far. Then lightly sand by hand with 400 then 6-800 to polish.
I recommend finding something to practice with and get a feel for the tool before you go at your knife. Grind the end of a fork or whatever just to get a feel for it. If your married PLEASE don't tell the wife I said use a fork 🤣🤣🤣
Take your time keep a thing of water next to ya dip your knife in it the end your grinding to keep it cool it's really not that hard.
Again much easier for me with my setup but a cheap belt sander from harbor freight would work just as well.
Harbor freight also sells knife grinding belt sanders for under a hundred bucks if your looking to have one.
They're much handier than you would think at allot more than grinding knives. I use my grizzly all the time for so much.

Just for the sake of discussion, I don’t own a belt sander and all I really had was a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel attachment. I ground most of mine down with the flats of the cutting wheel. Then shaped it with a file and finished with sandpaper.

I chickened out when I got close to the handles but it’s smooth to the touch and out of my way now.
