Just for the sake of discussion, I don’t own a belt sander and all I really had was a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel attachment. I ground most of mine down with the flats of the cutting wheel. Then shaped it with a file and finished with sandpaper.

I chickened out when I got close to the handles but it’s smooth to the touch and out of my way now.

Nothing wrong with that. You accomplished the mission and well at least for me it feels so much nicer in my pocket.

Ditto that. It also used to dig into my palm when using the tool and closing some of the implements. I’m glad I don’t use or need the eyelet. If I did, I would have had to just deal with it.
