Show Us Your Own Design, Custom Made Knife

Great! awesome response... gotta say some of the knives turned out pretty close to what was expected... and they are all exceptional pieces.

Well this is my contribution to the thread for now, got others in the pipeline will post it when time comes.

This one is a take of David Mirabile's Neo Tribal made with his own forged damascus with inlaid indian artifact under the handle wrap and walrus ivory.

Only difference with David's was the added clip point on mine and the leather line kydex shift which I should have opt for full leather instead.

Anyway here is my initial sketch... poor attempt... and the finish piece..

I patched together a short pictorial video of my latest design. It was put in the post today.. Kudos to Justin of RANGER KNIVES for an awesome job of taking my picture, and making it reality.

23" OAL, 17" blade of 5160.. weight 24ounces or so.

Copy it all you want if you like it.. how better for a design to be prooved than to be successfully used by the masses.
Of course, the picture and designs also had a lengthy email dialog..

That came out really nice. I'd probably also choose an all-leather sheath for this piece, but that's a small point.

Johnathan, That folder looks great!!! Never saw a goldish colored damascus like that, SWEET!!!

This is a prototype of a blade I designed and made by Scott Tanguay on the handle of one of his Little Pricks (I think). It was designed for a specialized purpose. This knife is an O-1 prototype.

Here are some of the old drawings I made of that blade fitted to different handles. The serrations are different and we settled on the large scallops when the proto was made.

This is Scott's pic of the knife shortly after completion. You can see I've used mine commercial fishing.

Ron & I went back and forth with this one to satisfy ourselves... I was just glad that he used my poker chips as a spacer and 'punched out' coin on the butt.

This one was fun!

I sent a drawing to Ariel & Ruben and asked for ideas if they'd be interested in doing a collaboration.

I don't usually supply a maker with design drawings when I order a knife, but in most cases just specify basic style, ideas, materials and specifications.

However, on occasion I will draw the knife such as this set I designed to help commemorate David and Jerome Anders becoming the first father/son ABS mastersmiths. This was the first such set of which they were to do one each year. Not sure who owns this first set, however the second set is currently listed for sale on BladeGallery.com. The below was actually a full scaled drawing before I reduced it to post here.

The completed set in it's display case is shown below in a scaned Blade Magazine article on the Anders (July 2005).
