Your old 1-7 looks to be from 77-84 going off the spacers.
Hard to tell in your pictures, but if the center spacer is faded, this was common on knives made from about 1980-84.
After 84 the "all thin" spacers were used.

Last one looks to me to be a 16 with teeth, not a 16-7 which would have a model 1 style blade.
I use my standard 16 in the kayak while fishing.
Great collection:thumbsup:
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I wish I could remeber what year I bought the first one, all I know is the it had to be between 1982 and 1985, but I bought it off a table at a gun show so who knows how long someone had it before then. And the 16 is the only one I have used on a few diving jobs and scuba trips. They are all blistering sharp, maybe just a little too sharp.

No worries mate, glad to help.
Good to see a Randall being used.
My 16 in home made "Flipper" style scabbard.

Very nice Kilroy!
Unusual place for the stamping on the sheath, most likely a prototype/mockup or first run from Sullivan.
I read somewhere (Gaddis or Wickersham books I think?) that Sullivan holster shop made up some (mid 80's?) for Gary to look at with hope of becoming a sheath provider to RMK, maybe this is one of them?
Adds to the uniqueness, I like it!

Hi zanussi,
Thank you for the interesting information on the sheath. I never noticed the stamping location on other sheaths. Also thank you for the compliment on it.

When I first began to carry ol' Betsy in the leather sheath, I tucked it back like this for fear of cutting the keeper off.
Despite this I didn't like the design and still don't.
Even having the keeper go over the top wasn't much better.
(I had a custom leather worker make one up like this)

Once while on a training exercise, a mate fell awkwardly and drove his Ka-Bar through the sheath and into his stomach.
I didn't much care for leather sheaths after that, no matter what thickness or number of rivets in it.
Recently a young lady did much the same thing with her Cold Steel Master Hunter in a leather sheath.

Now I make my own sheaths from cordura and polypipe similar to the Spec-ops Brand types.
For my user 14 I have a full custom kydex so the knife just "clicks" in, no straps needed.
Working on a similar design for my 16 at the moment, stay tuned.
