As they appear to be flavour of the month I thought it would be nice to start a thread on these (mod's, sorry if it's already happened, I did look).

I'm really taken with the pattern. Here are my two, I know people have got snazzier versions so please, pop em up!

GEC #47 Viper olive drab linen micarta covers

Mike Zscherny green canvas micarta covers

That's a nice Viper, I've got one just like it heading my way, thanks to good old fashioned Irish luck, and I'm not even Irish.:D

This one never leaves my pocket.

Great idea for a new thread.

Best regards

Pipeman - can you give a little more history on that amazing old swayback?

The only swayback I currently own is the ebony beauty that arrived this week:

I bought a Case SBJ a few years ago, but sent it back - poor dye job on the bone and noticeable gaps. A little small for my tastes as well. But I do love the pattern in general. Curious to see more...

I suppose if the Viper Dip powder doesn't kill the lice and their eggs, then the blade would be used to shave the hair off the head, yes?:D

Hi Smithhammer
The knife is a John Petty, likely pre 1891 but that depends on whether it was made for export or internal British use. Osmands was a pretty big international chemical company that made argricultural chemicals such as Sheep dip which I assume was a bug killer.
Best regards

This Bret Dowell is my only swayback. I do want to pick up a GEC Viper, it's a beauty.

I'll add a vintage touch to this thread. A NYK swayback, photo by John (AKA Chief)
