Show us your workshop!

Yea, after seeing all yer clean shops, I'm too embarrassed to show mine!

Well, ok - there it is behind the grinder:p

Haha, well everyone has their own way with this stuff Bruce. Me personally I can't think straight or get any work done unless my shop is clean... But the guy I first learnt knifemaking from, Neil Charity, his shop had like sand-dunes of grinder dust around everything. They were like a foot deep in some places! There were little clean paths from where he walked but everywhere else was dust city...

That didn't stop him from making beautiful knives though!

Absolutely! You yourself have some amazing equipment there! CNC mill and lathe, 5C collet chuck, sandblaster, surface grinder, horizontal bandsaw, hardness tester... Very nicely rounded bunch of gear! Very similar to what I'd like to have setup one day!

Is all that solely for knifemaking or do you work on other stuff too?

Most of the tools were bought for building precision rifles and building hotrods. Knife making is a very new hobby. I really enjoy it because I can finish a knife in a couple of days/weeks. A car would take me years and a gun months so knives are good for my attention span.:)

That would make me NUTZ!

I try to clean up after every project that way I don't get overwhelmed. since my garage is attached to the house I haft to keep it clean or the house would look like a garage and that wont fly with the misses.

Yeah I think in a similar fashion, although my current batch of knives have taken FAR longer than I'd like due to issues I've been having with Cerakote.

Yeah, messy is definitely not how I operate either but everyone is different for sure! Neil's workshop was really something to behold. He had a lot of machinery packed into a tiny space, and the mess was crazy. I have no idea how he made knives that were as beautiful as they were in that place!

Here are a few pictures of my grinding/finishing shop. I'll add forging shop and leather shop pictures later.

Boy!! There are some damn nice, well equipped workshops shown here. I'm jealous.

I have a pretty small basement shop. I keep my forge, anvil and some of the big machinery out in the backyard shed as well. I also have a key to a friend's woodworking shop with all the toys.

My workbench. I've since replaced this bench with a nice, solid edge grain spruce butcher block bench I just built.:

Boatbuilder,
I thought it was urban legend that someone had EVERY tool in the world. Nice setup you have! I am loving the grinder laying on its side. It looks made that way, but I don't know what they are called LOL

This tread should really be called "Show us your ULTRA CLEAN and ORGANIZED workshop" :)

Seriously. Bet there's a lot of folks like me who aren't going to put up a photo- I call mine the Earthquake Preparedness Method: Everything is already on the floor, so it can't fall down and hurt somebody.
It's a working blacksmith/fab shop, so there's A LOT going on, most of it dirty and dusty. Taking everything that involves little parts indoors means a lot of walking back and forth, but that's good for you, right?

I like having the critters coming in and out, lots of fresh air, though when the squirrel knocked over my quench tube because he was interested in the canola oil I was cursing the lack of walls.
Dedicated knife shop soon....

Mine is more "rustic" than most, I spend a lot of time out there, so wanted it to be "homey."

Here is my home away from home,

I know it's a mess and I should have cleaned up for the pictures, but still trying to finish up some Christmas orders.

Dig that LVL frame!

Great photos guys! It's very cool to see what kind of tools everyone ends up with to do their work... Nice to see a couple of other Canadians in the mix too!
