Show your Buck Vantage

Pimping my Buck with some micro-file work. Great practice for bigger work to follow.

Thanks about the filework. Couldn't leave the small Vantage alone, it has been such a coin collector over the year that I finally decided to modify it with a liner spacer of bronze. Some filework and a couple of set screws and no more jammed Buck. There is a side benefit that it added a little mass to the handle and it now feels a little more substantial.

Looks great. Nice work

You guys obviously love these things... I though I would, I've bought 2, and neither flip right or lock up correctly so I rarely carry them. They look nice, but I don't feel mine is safe or that practical (can't get it open easily or locked up). Any tricks to get them to work right (at this point I own >50 knives and this is easily my biggest disappointment)?

I have two, they've been great. I made a video about tuning the vantage:

It's 25 minutes long, may or may not help. I wish you good luck.

Well I somehow missed this thread. If I had seen it I wouldn't have started the other one. Sorry guys.

Wow! Great job on the pics, guys! I had no idea there was so many variations out there.

Is the wood Hornady edition still available? I love the black/wood combination, but I've looked and haven't found them available anywhere.

My first Vantage will arrive at my house today, I can't wait! I'm sure it won't be my last either.

Here is a picture of my four. I now have five as I just got another (345 with black scales) in yesterday and needs a cleaning and sharpening before a picture. Top to bottom 340, 345, 346 and 845. The 346 was my knife of the day today. The tiewrap is only to make it easier to open as all will flip open but the noise bothers folks at work.

Finally got some pictures of mine during some down time at work, I am definitely in the Vantage fan club; I love this knife! I have noticed that the way the blade is ground makes it catch some dust and other particles, making it look dirty, but it hasn't shown any signs of rust and it wipes off easy, so I really don't care. I plan on smoothing out the action a little bit but just a slight flick gets it open when using the flipper so it doesn't even really need it. Zero blade play in any direction and very comfortable to use. Its a good feeling to be using and carrying an American made knife that's also a Buck!

Carrying an American made knife is definitely a good feeling, catching the Buck bug. :)
The Buck Vantage is on my wishlist.

Found this one at a knife show last month.

How about an orange one.

Before someone asks - You have to dye a beige handle yourself using RIT dye, its easy. I think I did a thread on it and over in the Traditional forum they have done a couple.

But the sad thing is they discontinued this exact model so you will have to search for one.

The bone 55 didn't turn out to be anything exciting, will have to re-dye it sometime.
