Show your red

Wow Mike - you have some lovlies in there my friend - simply beautiful!
Turk, I loved that Red Bone Trapper as soon as I laid eyes on it.
Doug - thank you so much Sir, and your shots of your knives are just always such a pleasure to look at! - thank you.

Thanks Duncan. You have some very nice ones yourself

Mike: wow, all over again, especially for the above two. Is the second knife a Peanut, or a larger knife with the same proportions?

Thanks Sarah. I really enjoyed looking at your pictures. Very nice..

The second knife is a Mini Trapper (6207). It is substantially bigger than the Peanuts, but is still probably my favorite Case pattern.
Even with big hands, they fit like a glove, but they are still very comfortable in pocket. And, they have half stops :D
It is a pattern I recommend everyone at least try. I know they aren't for everyone though.

You've got red on you... :D

Thanks, and-- thanks for the further information. That helps a lot! I have a mini trapper (wharncliffe version, so: very different blades from yours, including that the clip main is a skeeny California clip), but didn't recognize your red knife as having the same handle. Now that you've identified it, I can "see" it-- especially with mine now in-hand to further understand what I'm looking at. I didn't notice the squared top bolster the first time through, a helpful clue.

I often recommend Case's Mini Trapper as a great all-around pattern, for the reasons you state. Great blade combination on yours, including the back-side pen (a preference).

Now I like your knife even more. :)

Wow those are very gorgeous both the red and the brown ones! Do you know how many of these red ones they made?

Sorry I didn't have time to pull out the red's. All 6254's I believe.

Two short run red bone knives, an Old Cutler Barlow by Colonial from the limited RAP series in 1981 and a Schrade 8OT Stockman (unsure of the date on this one).

I have one of those as well. Picked it up at the local hardware store. I was surprised, and pleased, with the bone dye. I've had too many pocket worn red bone Case knives come to me almost white on the ends and medium-rare in the middle.

Here's a set of Case Whittlers; two each of the '08, '83, and '80 patterns.

This one's seen a lot of use through the years... the old reliable during deer season.
