I know there was a thread like this about a year and a half ago or so, but there are a lot of new faces around here now, and it's always interesting seeing where people work.

I'm going to cheat since I spent this last weekend updating my webpage to have a virtual tour shop page and post the link here.

http://www.tharkis.com/shop.html

Lets see some of your shops, where you work, where you finish your blades, what tools you use !

Nice set up. My shop is also in my garage, but I have to move out half the stuff stored in there when ever I want to work. Next time I empty it I'll try to get some pics.

The blower forge we built here?????

Yup, that blown propane forge is the one we built over at your place IG. It's a great forge and gets wicked hot wicked fast. It's on a wheeled cart so I can put it wherever I want when I use it. I use it for my forge welding, but usualy use my whisper baby for general forging because the whsiper uses so much less propane, and I hate having to drive across town to the filling station.

I'm planning to get set up to give forging a try at some point, and have been thinking about where to set everything up. The garage makes the most sense, but I assumed this would be too dangerous. Do you run your forge inside the garage, or do you move it outside while working?

I see you are from Chandler, I plan on moving to Casa Grande.

So you are saying you don't have a large box of them ready to share with nice guys like me?

Yes, I recall reading that in the past...Chandler is not far from Casa Grande. Your son trains pointing dogs or something along those lines, correct?

In fact, I was momentarily hopeful when you recently posted about a hammer in but of course you have not moved yet. Speaking from experience, I hope you aren't planning that move during the summer!

Here's my shop right after it was built and I first got it organized. Doesn't look nearly so clean now. Since this picture was taken I have installed a KMG clone on the end of the work bench. Also added a couple of propane forges, a 164 pound Peter Wright anvil, a 48" cast iron cone mandrel, a home built sand blasting cabinet, and some other odds and ends.

This is the other end of the shop. My machine tool corner is tucked away out of sight. My reloading bench and gunsmithing stuff is at the far end of the building.

Here's my vertical welding forge.

And finally, here's my machine shop corner. It's equipped with a Taig 2019S mill and a Taig Microlathe II.

Damn you Ken Kelley! Someone better pipe up and show me their bathroom grinding setup soon or I'm going to be seriously depressed:(

Seriously, nice workshop Ken. (wipes away teardrop/drool)

Dave,

UMMM...Will this keep you from slitting your wrists??? I keep my Tormek in the back bathroom in the winter so the stone doesn't freeze. It's out of the way and still convenient to keep the knife and shop tool inventory sharp.

Okay, it is a wreck, this pict is old and inaccurate, and you can't actually see much of the shop. But the alternative would be cleaning it and taking a new pict, and man, I just can't muster that right now....

If it will help, here's my 9'X12' section of the garage, almost like a bathroom.
