I was talkin' to Marty Simon yesterday and in the course of our conversation the idea for this thread popped into my head.

That last pic rocks mike! What's your wife do? Work for the forest service or something?

Hippies around here love gunz though!

Here's mine as she finishes crossing a creek on a steel cable in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness:

What is the idea behind the steel cable Blues? Is it for high water?

I've seen that in one place here but it was just where you still walked in the water but held the top of the cable to keep from getting swept away:eek:

Yep. The cable is for crossing during periods of high/fast water. We can get a lot of rain in these parts.

There are two cables. One to walk on and the other to hold on to to maintain balance.

my wife works for the santa clara valley water district... though she is a trail builder by trade, she now does vegetation managment work.... www.valleywater.org she is constantly working around creeks, rivers, levy's, reservior's,flood planes, marshes and lakes.. primarily focusing on local and native vegetation....

We hike almost every weekend in SW Utah. I'll put up a couple of pics from Zion NP, 25 miles from home. We do some Jeeping and shooting , too. I'll get some pictures next time we're at the range.

Wow what a cool job. She should carry a camera with her at all times. I bet she sees some cool stuff!

My wife used to work outside all the time, she was a sanitarian sampling wells, investigating health complaints. But now she's the director of environmental health so she's in the office mostly.
