Having another Hammer Inn and all invited. It is at my house and I have a nice big shop and overhang where my power hammer, forge and press are and they will all be running. We like newbies, pros, collectors and just folks who enjoy knives. It is a Saturday and Sunday event and we will have some form of BBQ on Sat. with leftovers on Sunday. There will be forging demo's and Damascus making with discussions on construction methods, clips on blades, discussion on mosaic damascus, grinding and heat treating. Come one and all and do some hammering.
My address is
4887 Dixie Garden Loop
Shreveport, LA 71105
318-865-8166

Oct. 25 and 26th

Have added an extension on the overhang where my power Hammer and forge are located and I aint scared of no rain.
Come one come all and feel free to bring friends.

If my wife wasn't having a baby the week before I'd be there for sure. I'll try to catch everyone this spring though. Y'all have fun!

Thanks for the invite Dan! Looking forward to visiting with everybody again. Should be a great time as usual.

Congrats Jason! But you need to just come on with the new kiddo as it's never to early to start them down the trail of burned fingers and financial ruin. Missed you last spring and hope to see you soon.

I may be right in the middle of moving that weekend but if I'm not, I'll be there.

If you've never attended and are close enough to do so, don't hesitate to go. You'll meet some good people, learn a few things, and have some fun too.

Do you mean 25-26? I think the 27th is a Monday, isn't it?

Is this an open invitation for all noobs? I might make the drive out and spend the day if so. I'd love to see some forging, etc.

bodam, Yes it is Oct. 25 & 26 and thanks for pointing out and most importantly, noobs, folks who want to learn and anyone who just wants to come for fun and watch or participate. I open my shop to all and let folks use my power hammer, press and other tools (with safety in mind)

Dang I wish I could come! I'm even going to be driving past on 40 on my way to GA! Alas, I've got to be in Brunswick on the morning of the 26th!

Its looking like I should be able to make it again Dan. Vanessa is trying to work her schedule to be off as well. Look forward to seeing ya'll again!

Anyone that is on the fence and unsure, I highly recommend you attend. It is a very newbie friendly environment, with many very talented people sharing their expertise!

I'm leaning towards making it a day trip on Saturday, but if I plan on staying, what area hotels are there?

I should be able to make it to this. What time do you guys get started in the morning? I might bring a friend along and just be there for one day (would one day be better than another). If I come alone then I'll likely stay and be there both days. I'd love to do some forging with real equipment.

Guess I should be there since I live only ten minutes away. Would love to meet local enthusiasts and hopefully learn something in the process. I'll see you there.

Google Bossier city Hotels, I should put that in the 1st post. Lots of hotels. We start at about 9.00 and go until we drop. Generally until after dark. Saturday is a good day but you wont want to not be here Sunday. I promise that. LeyS, You should make a Sunday, I leave that day of the week for working with makers. Call me 865-8166

Thanks Dan for the invite. I'm sure it will be another fun knife making weekend. I plan to be there Sat. for sure.
Mark

All you folks who can make it a treat. If I get materials in time I will be doing a demo on mosaic damascus patterns. Oh, would be nice if folks could bring drinks or chips or deserts.

I have stayed at the following. Fairly new, nice, clean rooms @ $104 per night.
This location is only a couple of miles from Dan's and there are numerous fast food joint's as well.

Hampton Inn & Suites Shreveport/South
8340 Millicent Way
Shreveport, LA 71115
(318) 798-1320

There are a lot of places in Bossier but get close to the river as you can. I think there is a La Quinta close and best western among others. I think you an beat that price of $104. per night if you shop a little on one of the booking companies on line. Looking forward to seeing you folks.

Don't know if I can make it on the 25th, but I have a branch location in Carthage that I visit frequently.

Do you have an open door for visits during the week? If so, I'd love to pick your brain one day

Yes and no. Some days are fine but then some days I have to get orders out and just dont have the time. Call me before and if I can you are most welcome. I do teach Sundays and you are always welcome then. Though nothing like a Hammer Inn.
