Shreveport LA Hammer Inn some pics added

Damn, I hate to miss an opportunity to visit Dan and everybody. I am sure it will be a great time it always is. Happy hammering.

Charlie

Man, that's a bummer. I always enjoy talking with you Charlie and seeing your work always amazes me. Maybe next time.

I'm coming. I got steel this time Danno. Same stuff i ordered from Aldo that didn't show up intime for the fall.

I'm still trying to head there Friday night i won't know until last minute. Dan i need to talk to you while I'm there.

Will, I hope you do. Update.....we have lots of pig for a giant grill on a trailer. I think more than can be eaten in 2 days. Really looking forward to meeting new folks and seeing old friend. All be careful.

I had to drive to Shreveport last weekend for a funeral so I won't be able to make the six hour trip this weekend as well. That SUCKS big time because my our third child is due in October, around the time for the fall hammer in. So as much as I hate to miss it AGAIN, it looks like I'll have to wish y'all a good time. I'm looking forward to the pictures.

I'm actually having a hard time finding a room. Under 150 a night. Wonder if anything is going on in the area this weekend.

Here is a link to many hotels. Look at a map and I live close to the Jimmie Davis bridge which is 70th st by the Red river. There is a La Quinta Inn Bossier City that is 2.7 miles that is not to expensive. Book it thru expedia Here is there # 1-855-809-3504. Here is a link to a lot of hotels.

Had a blast as always. Dan I want to thank you very much for your help with my billets. Everyone else I will sees you next time.

Thanks everyone for the wealth of knowledge this past weekend. Especially Dan and Andy. You guys are great and very patient with us new ones. Thanks for taking the time out to show us what y'all know. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you to Dan for hosting another great gathering. You sir are inspiring as a maker and friend. Your enthusiasm and generosity are contagious as always. I appreciate all you share in your time, experience, propane, abrasives, pork, etc.

Good to see all you guys again. What a fine group in a great environment to learn and grow beyond our routines.

Thanks to Joe and Jenny for the spiffy Swedish square pattern (I think I'll call it starfish).

Sure good to meet you Matthew. Thanks much for the mokume and for sharing your process and experience. You're a patient teacher.

Cousin Charlie and Darrin, we sure missed you this time but somehow managed to wolf down your smoked tenderloin anyway. No survivors; you know the drill. Hope to see you fellas soon.

It was the best two days all weekend. Already looking forward to next one!

I hate I missed out but I had something unexpected come up at the last minute. Good to hear everybody had fun. Hopefully I'll make it in the fall. Now where are the pics?

We had a great time and thanks to all that came. A perfect weekend as weather was great and never got any of the bad rain that was forecast for Sunday. Just a refreshing cool breeze. Three forges and anvils and hammers pinging. Great food, fun and comrade-re. I truly believe that knifemakers are some of the most giving and caring folks. Here are some pics that Andy sent me. Sorry that I did not get any but I was busy trying to make sure folks had a good time. There was forging of knives, Damascus and quarters. Thanks Matthew for doing demo's on the making of mokume with quarters. Wow...really a lot easier than I thought. Anyway, sorry for the folks who could not make it and you were missed. I wish to thank Andy, Robert, Joe, Stuart for all that you did to pull off another great one.
PS: Joe, I still want a chance to get back my $3.00 back on the pool table :>)
