SHSH Question

Thanks tuica, and yea, I've only seen very few smooth bolt half moon pommel SHBM but never a SHSH, but that doesnt mean they dont exist. Never say never when it comes to Busse.

I agree with the above that it may just be a rare A2 half moon pommel SHSH, that very short ricasso really gives it the nod. Most all my INFI straight handles have had long ricasso's. My A2 models have had short ones. Not many of those half moon pommel SHSH around in A2. Good find!

My money is on A2 at this point, but I'm pretty sure the only way to tell without stripping the coating is using the darned thing…….. ;)

How could one tell? Busse knives in A2 were/are almost as tough as INFI. Short of destructive testing, how could you tell the difference under typical use?

Folks have posted the tip in the past that you could try putting cold blue reagent on the exposed edge. INFI will not take the blue, A2 will.

Thanks again for your knowledge in these matters, leatherman. So that's a point. Can anyone within sight of this posting claim to have seen a smooth bolt round (half moon) pomelled SHSH2? I have viewed many internet images in the interest of this question, and have not yet seen one. And if it cannot be found on the net - it must be a ruse, a specter - a mere phantom of imagination...;-)

I remember seeing a couple of those SHSH with the smooth center bolt! Very interesting piece of history. There's a thread in here somewhere with some pics and a little discussion.

I should be getting it today !
I'll post up some better pic's when it arrives, Appreciate all the wisdom you folks are sharing !

I think the SHSHII is ok.

My favs

Thanks gravelface; Mulder and all for your thoughtful replies. Will have to watch for those "hybrid" SHSH2's. If you don't recall M, I purchased one of your SH-1's...;-)

Got it !!

Looks a little dimpled near the handle ?
Sure feels good in the hand ! Can't wait to try it out !
Cheers, Mike

Looks great! If its your first SHSH2, you will probably look for other variations on the theme. My first two were "bolts" - then recently purchased a tube version w/ vertical micarta. They, like all Busse's, grow on you...;-)

Thanks everyone !
I'm a little worried, It hasn't even been 7 weeks for me....
Hopefully have a Basic 10 on the way,
and of late...been hoping for a...wait for it...B8 !

Cheers, Mike

I see also that your SHSH has a "satinized" blade top. My two "bolts" have black painted blade top, but the "tube" has blade top finish like yours.

Another question to those who know: are the non - black bladed SHSH2's factory finish (bead blast?), or are they after sales stripped? I don't think I have ever seen one of those for sale on BF. Thanks in advance for your answers...;-)

Factory BB (not DC)
There are also a few Satin ones floating around along with a few "GHOST"

What a shame, that is a Chinese fake Busse. Send it to me, I will give it to the Busse staff that are coming to our GTG.

Resinguy, you are such a giver, one to be admired. :D I wish I could afford such services. :)

Agreed with the consensus so far! Looks like you have an INFI SHSH!!!!

Thanks everyone ! Lot's of great info shared.
Would've been a good score either way !, INFI or A2
I'm very happy, looks way better in person than the first pic, might do a bit of Winter camping this weekend and try it out...
