Hey guys.. dont take it the wrong way please!!!
I myself have had my time with a chris reeve's sebenza (small 21).. and i liked it quite abit...

but it seems to me that on these forums or advertisments, i.e. knife related things... well what seems to be the end-all of everything.. is the chris reeve.. CRAZE...

You know how at awards with these celebs they all seem to be wearing ONE designer... well its sorta the same thing here... 1 thing caught on and every1 goes along with it...

Now IM NOT A HATER.. im just getting a tiny tinnny bit tierd of hearing about it.... knives should be different.. every1 shouldn't have the same thing... and no ... no knife is "PERFECT".. there will always be something about it you'd change.. i dont even mean the blade or the bevel, or even the handle grip.. maybe it might be as simple as the coloration of a blade.. in which u cannot get ur hands on because they dont make it that way...

All im saying is that every1 should stop going absolutly crazy (although the CR sebs are NASTY knives..) and ill be the first to admit that... and wouldn't say no if a dude just wanted to hand over his collection :) hahaha... but really what point im trying to get across is that your knife dosn't have to be $400 for it to funtion right... for instance.. you could get a kershaw skyline and perform the same tasks as the sebenza.. and for MANY people.. (including myself).. they dont even put them to use... they just put it off to the side in their knife cases (i cant hate, i did the same)... and shout about having 1 on the forums.. haha..

Bottom line is, before i get all this hate mail and such.. basically YES the sebs, any model of it is a DIRTY blade... but i just think there is sooo much unnecessary HYPE over something that there really shouldn't be..

Anyway im sorry if there are those sebs die-hard fans out there.. im not having a "go" at you.. i just wanted to voice my opinion and see weather or not the majority of others feels the same way as i..

A lot of times it comes down to the old say, not always but a lot. There are those who can afford Corvettes and those that can not. Some are just happy to have a Honda. Both will get you to work one is just going to be a lot better at it.

I agree and feel the same way when people ask about what gun to buy, only to get a billion and one responses of "Glock."

definetly your right.. BUT i can and DO have a sebenza... and i vouche that its a good knife but dosn't really deserve all the hype that its getting...

OMG hark! THANK YOU!.. jesus.. u read my mind... its SO true whenever u ask about that.. its like "oh a glock"... and im like wtf!! there are so many things..to choose from, a sigp228...sig p 226... maybe a nice old school 1911.. but NOOOOO a "glock" the best part is.. they dont even say a model #.... so it could be the 27.. or the 21.. -.- lol

I really don't get your point. Maybe its that this same topic comes up every week or so.

You can hand a kershaw to someone and they take it for what it is. A dependable affordable knife. Hand them an Umnumzaan and you get the wow factor from them. I love handing it to someone and the person just knowing its high end by feel.

My favorite is when Sebenza suggestions are inappropriate.

"Hey guys, I'm looking for a 6" fixed blade camp knife under $100. What do you recommend?"
"I believe you should buy a Sebenza. Best folding knife there is."

"I'm thinking about picking up an Imcasa machete. What do you guys think?"
"Teh Sebenza, definitely."

"Victorinox or Wenger?"
"OMG,\ t3h SEBenzo!!!!"

I'm not really understanding this thread? Why isn't this in Whine & Cheese? Also, your use of punctuation, capitalization, and use of slang terminology make your posts quite difficult to read. I understand them, but they are difficult to read. I don't understand what you mean when you say that the Sebenza is a dirty blade.

I think by forming this thread you just add to the hype! This has been discussed a lot in the past. To each their own. I do agree with Kozak6 about the inappropriatte suggestions though. I think the suggestions he gave I have actually read before. I did honestly see someone suggest a sebenza in a "multitool recomendation" thread one time!

Sorry bud, but im one of the "newer generation" kids.. haha and its as if english is a different language compared to how people spoke 30 years ago.. haha
"dirty , and nasty" simple mean = awsome.. or really good... ect.ect..

i really dont think you should be so bias as to say "i dont understand too much because of how your punctuation is"... its taken as an insult.. and just because your not used to something dosn't make it wrong.. and i think ur mind set about it being in the "whine and cheese" is obvious evidence that you surly do not understand what this post really is about... sorry bud

Only way i'd be adding the the "hype", as u say.. is if i were saying it was the best knife out there... and i do reguard my post as a serious one as i think its a growing problem that people are just following into this fixation of the seb... im simply trying to see what peoples views are.. but so far there have been 3 , yes urs included that have just been a WASTE of time.. why would you dare waste ur own life? by commenting such a "waste of time" comment... your definetly not awnsering my question... MY question is how do you feel about all of the hype...

what you said was.... "u add to the hype" not an awnser?

what you said was..."i do agree with kozkaz...ect..ect.." NOT awsering my question??

honestly dont bother if the comment isn't going anywhere with it...

I'd also like to bring to the attention the following.. which is within what.. an hour or so of starting this thread is has gotten around 10 responses... now sometimes i make a thread asking a general question any1 might know.. and well i get 1 response if im lucky in a week... that is living proof that the "sebenza" is a knife cared too much about... and yes im the creator of the thread.. but its just to mainly see what yall think about it.... not to make comments either putting me "down".. or agressive comments towards me... but its a simple question and no1 can really seem to understand it -.-....

A Bladeforum classic :D

First of all, basically you're whining about the Sebenza so it belongs in Whine and Cheese. If you think I don't understand what the post is really about then please explain it further. Secondly, people speak the same now as they did 30 years ago, but the difference is that the new generation is slaughtering the English language. Not only do they have trouble speaking it, but writing it has all become shorthand and abbreviation. Being able to speak and write the English language properly goes a long way. It shows that you have at least the semblance of being educated and it is paramount when you are trying to get a point across or if you are asking someone for help. Thirdly, you say that my words are taken as an insult. I have no control over how you feel so if you feel insulted, oh well. I feel insulted that you won't take the time to write a proper sentence or use the proper language when you are trying to get your point across. You say that it's not wrong and I say that it is. You are on an internet forum where your main means of communication is written. When you have nonsense slang, no capitalization, and punctuation where it doesn't belong, it gets very frustrating trying to decipher what you are saying. Maybe this is why you get no replies when you are asking for assistance of some sort on these forums.

Again, please tell me in a way that I'll understand what this thread is about if it's not about you whining about the Sebenza's wild popularity? It doesn't appear that you are asking any kind of question.

OP, how about this. What 400 dollar folder would be worth the money. What should we be buying?

That's easy - A Sebenza, what else?

They are great knives that is why they are so popular. If the original poster doesn't like them then he should buy something else.

I know!

CHOOSE A SEBENZA!!!

Not only do they have trouble speaking it, but writing it has all become shorthand and abbreviation.

I blame texting and not reading enough, that being said, I am not English and still struggle with some of my tenses, but one should be able to speak and write it correctly in today's corporate environment (that is why I have a Bilingual Dictionary next to me to make sure about certain words). I struggled the first few years on the forums learning what IMO and other abbreviations meant.

Back on topic: If you are on the forums long enough you will identify certain schools of thought.

Hard Use vs Right Tool: It does not matter what you think, just respect others opinions and they can do what they want with their tools.
Axe vs Big Chopper: Buy what you feel comfortable with.
$400 knife vs $30: Why buy an expensive knife and are they worth it? Look at my signature.
Steels: Some are passionate about it others are just happy to use the knife. Respect each sides opinion.
Cold Steel is good/suck: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.
Strider: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.
Emerson: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.
Spyderco: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.
Busse: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.
Chris Reeve: Two sides to the coin, some love them others do not.

et cetera (etc. not ect by the way)

If you dont want to read the two sides of the coin arguments then you have the choice to not click on the thread title.
