Siegle SAR-4

Given the fact that this is .250 thick, this Saber grind is actually almost a scandi grind,I would think. I have two of Bill's knives,so I know first hand how scary sharp his edges are. I would expect that this thing is a pretty darn good slicer despite it's stock thickness. Truely a tool to be trusted.

Here is a pic of the final design and one I did without the finger groove. I prefer the fingergroove one myself :) The large pommel area provides a nice "hook" to keep the knife secure in the hand(especially with large gloves on). It also provides a nice wide stiking suface for light hammering if needed. The last thing the wide pommel does is it gives a nice area to push on with your palm if you are drilling or pushing the blade straight into some material.

Very nice, Bill. Do you think you'll be offering this design on a regular basis?

Yeah this is an instant standard :D The thickness is not .250 though. I used .200 thick steel for these. Final finished thickness is close to 3/16 :)

That thickness sounds perfect for this sized knife  I know this was designed for SAR guys, but it looks like a great all around field knife too. River 8, take your Busse out of the safe and get some use on her ;) :D

Nice stuff Bill and River-8.

I own a couple of Siegle's so I can speak to his quality as well.

Personally, I like the higher saber line on River-8's working SAR-4.

All good stuff.

That's a very cool and capable design, looks like a very good camp knife.

I never did follow up about that scandi bushcrafter model you showed here a while back, Bill. That design looked like a winner too.

Ok, so I've had a few days to let the initial wonder wear off a bit...
Where does that leave me?

Simple: Even More impressed .

Firecraft.

Bill'd better get that belt-sander fired up; my guess is this will be very popular!!

Cheers,
8

I like this design Alot. +1 for the finger groove. Any price set of these yet?

Prices are set but this ain't the fer sale area :) Looks like you're having too much fun out there River-8!!!!! I can hardly wait till I can get out yer way myself :D

WOW is right!!!!!

I have been waiting for this one and almost missed this thread.

I need to frequent the Wilderness and Survival Skill forum more. But, so much to do these days.

Anyway... NEED more info.

PM's and emails sent.

Wow, that to me looks like a perfect knife for allround bushcraft, skinning, and just about anything else you might want to do.
I don't suppose you have a shot of the sheath and want to give us a hint of the cost.

Still if that was mine I would want the same thing but with a hint of a recurve in it, same size and handle though.
very nice, let us know how it performs!

Looks great! I'm hoping to see more cool Siegle creations at Blade West later this year.

Why the longish butt?

not sure if this is the proper forum for those comments, and bill may or may not take that as a compliment. :p

i checked out the protos bill had at blade west last year and really liked the design, but they weren't for sale. hopefully there will be some available at this year's show...

Winston

I picked up a bigger SAR from him last year and I think it needs a brother. :o
