Sightings " Sticky " Thread

Well, guys, as an experiment, I've placed a few things on the trade forum. Some of my favorite knives have come into my pocession via a little trade or gift giving, right here on the forum.

Moderators: Heaven forbid I have violated the rules here at the forums. If so, I will edit this to not read that I just placed a few things there, titled 'Schrades for Schrades'.

Okay, the Walmarts I've checked so far...

Hampstead, MD
Hunt Valley, MD
Shrewsbury, PA

I have asked for Schrades, but not pestered the hell out of the sporting goods employees at the following

York, PA (both stores)
Hanover, PA
Bel Air, MD
Aberdeen, MD
Lancaster, PA
Gettysburg, PA
Chambersburg, PA
Wilmington, DE

Time for a little bit more travelling, huh? Hunt Valley was the best find, I might just go back up and get those Uncle Henry stag stockmen.

Forgot, gotta check out the Ocean City, MD store, and my local bait shops, local gun stores have been checked. Saw Schrade display at a bait shop in S B'more near McDoogals (eye candy club).

question for you Shradeaholics, if I see some Schrades locally should I just grab them ? Not for me, but is there a market among you collectors for the delrin and staglon slipjoints, if I can get them cheap?

king ranch, middleman, minuteman, junior were the models i remember seeing

Other than the Stockman, I think I'm okay, but thanks for the offer man. Anybody want the UH stag stockman? My local WM has about 5, last time I checked, if you are interested in going there for all those in MD, it's the Hunt Valley WM.

Thanks, Rob. This is all working out perfectly. I encourage any of you other guys to give it a try.

Hello! I can confirm seeing several (5 - 12) Schrade Stockman and a few of the one-handed opener folders (Badger?) at the Academy sporting goods store on I-35N and Hwy 183 in Austin.

Thanks for the tip, MG.

Well, I completed all my trades with a few of the guys here, and I think we are all more than satisfied. Thanks to all of you that made trades with me.

So make use of our Exchange forums here at BFC!

Saw some Stockman Clampacks at Kmart today. They also had a Simple Simon or two I think.

Carslile Pike in Mechanicsburg,PA for anyone local.

I was in Cabelas recently in both Dundee,Michigan...and the one out in Sidney, Nebraska...and found both had around 4 models each of Schrade Uncle Henry folders, and some X-Blades. The saleman said they had plenty in stock. Prices were same retail..no change. You can inquire about them online,
www.cabelas.com...or call 1-800-237-4444.

Good find SleepingBear.....It doesn't appear that you were sleeping while in the Cabela's store..... ;)

Welcome to the forums!

Our local True Value Hardware has about 15 34OTs hanging on the rack by the cash register (next to the Cases and Bucks). They're $25.99, which is fairly steep (in my opinion).

The True Value is run by a couple of older gentlemen and I always enjoy their company when I stop by, but today, the guy running the cash register appeared to be in his very early 20's. I pointed to the Schrades and commented, "You know, those folks aren't in business anymore." His reply was, "Yep. I know. Maybe we should raise the price on them a little more." Then he proceded to pull his "favorite Case pocketknife" out of his jeans to show me. :grumpy:

Might be a good opportunity to make a closeout offer to the older owner. I had the same experience with the local lumber company. Dang clerk decided to collect the Schrade DU issues still in the case, and the case!

Some are about ebay prices, some less, some more. I know the Safe-T-Grip series has been going cheaper lately on ebay. There are no real steals that I saw, but a few are decent deals. It is a better variety than a lot of dealers have left in stock though. Thanks for the link!

Hey folks,
Just a heads up here.
Billy Cochrane at.....

www.vintageknives.com

Has 9 33OTs (Jack pattern) on his site for $15 a piece + shipping, if any of you are interested.

Not affilliated in any way. Just passing on some information here.

Bill

Speaking of 33OT's. http://www.djknives.com still has them listed on his site for $12.00 ea. If you buy several, I think he will drop the price even more. I bought several from him a few weeks ago and they were new in the box.
