Significant others and knives

Several comments in other threads got me to thinking. How does your significant others view your knife collecting addiction ?

Mine didnt understand why I need so many. Until recently, I aquired her a Pink and a Rainbow Chive ! Now she carries one or the other everyday !
She also showed interest in the Scallion, so I'm sure she'll end up with one of those in time.

Actually, I caught her yesterday with one in each pocket . She was taking them to show to her friends, lol.

She's slowly turning to the dark side, and doesnt roll her eyes anymore when I head straight to the knife counter !

So, how do your significant others react ?

Mine is coming around - As long as I sell one now and then and support her vice - purses.

Mine does not know. :D They are all the same (to her) and she never sees them anyway. I carry a chive most all the time and the other day she wanted something cut and I pulled out a D.O.G. folder with a 3.5 inch blade and she never even noticed the difference. Sweet.

Well after the decades, the wife has a pink Chive, Rescue Blur in the car, and then there are all those wonderful Shun's she just loves.....

I pointed out one of the Rescue Blurs to her the other night. She thought it would be a good idea to keep one in her car as well.

And they come in red, which matches her car, a big plus in her eyes, lol

Guess I know what to get her for Christmas now, lol

She's come along ways in the 10 years we have been together !

At first, my wife questioned the number of knives I really needed. Figuring that the best defense is a good offense, I gave her a Mini-Cyclone. Now she has a better appreciation for a good knife and I have an easier time collecting same. :)

Thomas has a good point here. I've got to get my wife those Shuns...I'm sure they'll help her 'see the light.'

I do not know since I have never asked. To be honest though I do not think she cares and I do not expect her to be a knife nut like me. :D

Sandy kept breaking her fingernails at work, opening IV packages (she's a home infusion IV pharmacist). She was watching me touch up my Scallion the other day, and mentioned how that might help her at work. Needless to say, she is now the proud owner of one, and if it's not clipped to the side of her purse, it's in her pocket...

She keeps eying my Mini Cyclone TiZDP...might be time to lock that one up in the gun case!

I had a wife for ten years and had about 50 knives......divoiced about seven years and now have about 1,000 knives and several girl friends.......freedom is GREAT !!!!

She doesn't care. She says, "Collect what you want."

BTW, she collects golf clubs. The nice ones.

Been married for 29 years and we camp alot. So my wife knows how important knives are. She's got several and EDC's a leek in her rotation. Mostly she carries a small auto as EDC.

She does think I spend too much on knives tho. :D:o

Too much time on my hands thought i'd resurrect this thread.

my girlfriend can't really stand knives and is deathly afraid of them. any ideas on bringing her into the fold? i have a feeling i'd be spending the night outside if i tried to give her even a chive.

My fiance has finally managed to cut herself with a cheap butter knife. I won't be getting her anything unless it has a very small blade and a very large guard!

Maybe I should have Eddie White whip me up something.

If I didn't want to go custom, what's the smallest Kershaw offering?

Chive or Baby Boa are about as small as they come.

Then there's the Mini Mojo/Mojito...Sandy has confiscated another one of my knives, and she carries that one all the time. I still haven't gotten my Scallion back. It now lives (somewhere) in the dark depths of her purse. It can stay there...I'm not reaching my hand down in there!

i cant really say anything, cause im not married, but all the girls i know/are interested in like knives. :D

i want ot hear what kershawguy has to say. how many kershaws alone does he own?

I'm right there with you SPXT My wife carries one of those massive business totes. Lord only knows how many of my users have ended up down there. I do know I'm not going in after them. My wife really likes knives and her choice of blade is the Sapphire. I personally don't care much for them, I guess that's how she ended up with the first one. I still don't know how the 3 other Sapphires ended up at the house. I think she also likes buying knives.

Maybe try getting a pink Leek and sitting down with her showing her how
to flip it. Get her acquainted with it slowly. Let her flip it, cut a few things,
just show her how useful a " tool " it is. Keep reminding her it's just a tool,
not a weapon and giving her pointers on how to handle it safely.
