Silliest Way You've Cut Your Hand REALLY Badly !!

2001... Working 3rd shift at Meijer... Frozen food dept, I was cutting open a case of bagels with a box cutter. I misjuged, and cut my left index finger down the right side, from the tip of the nail almost to the 2nd knuckle. Sliced off a little triangle of fingernail, too. it was ~1/4 inch deep, got a good look at the inside of my finger. Put it back together with paper towel and duct tape, I didn't have insurance at the time. Took about a week to even start to close up.

I cut my thumb badly with my knife, while slicing up apples for a group of 2 year olds. Nothing like spraying blood all over the place. Funny part was the kiddies just kept on eating.

A few of them did want to see my hand when I was finally able to take the wrap off. Sill have a dead nerve in my right thumb (dominant hand of course).

Just tell them you got in a knife fight!

I was cutting open a bottle of hair gel because I'm cheap and it wouldn't come out from the bottom no matter how hard I shook it. So naturally I whipped out my gerber gator and cut right along the part of the bottle with slippery gel in it. Long story short I have a big tear drop shaped chunk missing from my left ring finger because I didn't want to cough up 5 bucks for some Dep. And yes that story makes me seem even lamer in person.

Playing with knives is a dangerous hobby; I cut myself all the time. One of my most recent silly cuts was in November. While enjoying a few beers and fondling my SAR4, I decided it would be a good idea to find the balancing point. The knife started falling and I went to grab it (dumb!!), slicing the entire width of my palm and going right through the cushion of the couch.

If that's not silly I don't know what is.

Tell 'em it was a burn if they ask Brendan.

Or tell them you were busting soda cans and bending scrap iron to practice for you next strongman competition and slipped.

Tell 'em you smacked a hippie with a face full of piercings!!!

Too late.. I told them..

wait, that was close !!

When I was 16 I made a homemade "giant" peanut butter cup...put it in the freezer to set the chocolate quicker. My sister wanted some when it was done. Got out a chefs knife to cut it in half, it was harder than I thought and I rolled the blade right into my thumb. It took a slab of my thumb tip off, cutting through the nail corner straight down. Just missed the bone by millimeters. It was a clean shear..almost had to graph it but the doctor said it would heal with proper care. I still have a blank in my thumb print about the size of a garden pea...no finger print pattern there still and Im 30.

Pulled a Trident fixed blade out of a kydex sheath that was a little tight. I over-reacted when the knife came out and it came back towards the sheath and cut my little finger. It cut through all the nerves and tendon and required 2-1/2 hours of surgery to repair. 2 years later my finger is still numb and has only 75% mobility.

Nine months later...tried to catch a Busse SHSH that started falling out of its knife case. Put a 2" blunt cut on my wrist and had to have 8 stitches. This one healed up just fine. Always remember put the edge of the blade towards the rear of the knife case:thumbup:

the result nearly 2 weeks later !!!

Wow, that must have looked bad to start with!

Now that time has passed, you finally gonna fill us in on how that happened? :D

Pulled an RC-3 out of its kydex sheath and my pointer finger was over the opening just a tad. Cut right to the bone when I pulled it out. 3 stiches and 4 hours at the ER.....bah. Its still a little tingley in that finger.

My worst hand cut came in my 20's, from opening multiple packages that I'd ordered from the Navy Exchange. The first box contained an Explorer survival knife, which I proceeded to use to open the next box, cutting towards myself (you see where this is headed). The knife turned out to be much sharper than I thought it would be, slicing through the box easily, and well into the index finger of my hand holding the box.

My worst leg cut same as a teenager, throwing a Case folding knife at a tree. It bounced back and stuck into my thigh, just above the knee. I pulled it out and used lots of paper towels and duct tape to seal the wound, and didn't tell my parents. I was lucky that it there were no complications, like infection, but I have a scar from that experience.

Many years ago when Gerber Mark 1's were new and made of tool steel I bought one. I had poor sharpening skills and poor equipment. I was sharpening with a small arkansas white stone. To test the blade I would hold a long hair in my left hand between thumb and index finger. I held the hairf so it was parallel to the floor. I cut down with lots of force and cut off the tip of my thumb at a 45 degree angle. I took off half the nail. I never found the piece but thge bleeding was not stopping. I called my father in law, a doctor and asked what they would do in the er. He said pressure bandage. I put on some gauze, wrapped a rubber band around the wound and 48 hiurs later it stopped seeping. Finger works fine but looks weird

Yup, that's what went through my mind !!

I have done the slow motion "catch" on my FBMLE. I was walking up the stairs at night. Bare foot (before I the sheath came). I dropped the knife and it was sliding toward my bare feet. So I went to grab the handle, and it rolled/flipped over and got the back of my right hand. Got some stitches the next day because I wanted to make sure the tendon was ok. I was not trying to stop the knife from being hurt, but trying keep it from my bare legs/feet. I doubted my cat like ability to leap the knife as it tumbled and rolled past my exposed meaty feet/legs.

for me, wiping some rust inhibitor off my rc 4 and kinda missed the edge of the blade a little bit and cut the tip of my index off

First one was re-sheathing a basic 9 but I was not looking at what I was doing & missed the sheath.

27 stitches 7 inside to hold the "meat" together & 20 to hold the skin

Second one; I was scoring a large peice of kydex & got distracted for a second & slashed my leg with a razor knife.

Stitched this one my self :) 8 or 9 stitches :D
