Silly Knife Names Thread

Anything from Microtech, Quartermaster, TOPS, CRKT, Kershaw, Benchmade, etc...

Zero Tolerance has it right, so does ESEE, Hinderer, Emerson, and a few others.

I'm pretty sure the CRKT G.S.D. wins in my book.

I just can't even after looking that up... ;):D

I'm not a fan of numbering knives rather than naming them. Boring and it can make it significantly more difficult and confusing to recommend and discuss different models, particularly when sprint runs and limited editions pop up.

I find tacticool names like "Socom Delta" or "Special Ops" ridiculous.

I also think naming a knife after a rifle is completely nuts. "M16," "M21," "AK-47."

Kulak would be actually be great name for an eastern European style knife, possibly to go along some other Russian/Soviet themed names like "Cossack", "Proletarian", "Bolshevik", and "Menshevik". Further elaborating, the "Cossack" would have a longer blade like the ZT 452 does and the "Kulak" would be a cross between a Sod Buster and one of the 1890s SAK soldier models.

The Bolshevik and the Menshevik are the large and small models of the Proletarian! :p

What controversy? My Russian grandmother was a Kerensky. That name would have been controversy. :D

A lot of Microtech knife names. Even "Microtech" itself is a bit silly. Starlord, Death On Contact, etc..

I've never liked Gentleman Jim, Gypsy Jack or Hard Wear.

Dejavoo, Loco, and Pagan are pretty campy.

Matriarch.. ick.

Yes. 'Microtech Ultratech'. Clumsy, ugly, repetitive, dumb, cheap-sounding. 'Starlord' sounds like a 70's hair band, or a character from 'Heavy Metal' magazine circa 1982.

Agreed. I like Scarab and Troodon, but then they have the ones you mentioned and the worst of all, the Microtech Ultratech...tech....tech. We get it.

So who made the Tactical Steak Knife?

I recently purchased a "Ladybug" from Spyderco. It takes a real man to walk around carrying a Ladybug! Lol

Come to think of it, where did they get the name "Spyderco" from for a knife company?

I prefer that actually. I can't stand the names makers give their knives. I wish my Spyderco military was model 423 or something than to have a knife called "military" in my pocket. Any tacticool name is idiotic.

There's a maker out their that names his knives "particle accelerator" and stuff like that. First time I was turned off by the name of knives was by this maker. Even though it has no bearing on the knife, it still bugged me.
I was refering to custom knife maker's which sets it apart .
